The journey of what love is not - Part 1

The journey of what love is not Part 1

We live in a society where the emotional experience of "love" is sometimes conditional on behavior. Where fear, guilt, and shame are used to try to control 's behaviors. For instance, I am a well-behaved, "good girl," then my parents are good people. If I act out, and misbehave, then there is something wrong with my parents. I would have somehow let them down.

("He doesn't come from a good enough family stands out clearly in my brain.")

One day last year I had one of those insights, those moments of a light bulb going on in my head, that was the beginning of a major paradigm shift for me. Yes, it has taken almost half of my life to come to where I am now in my healing. It was one of those moments of clarity which caused me to start reevaluating the mental definitions that were dictating my emotional reactions to life. Here is what I remember seeing in my brain ----

"if I keep doing what I am doing, I will keep getting what I am getting"

I will be sharing my story about what love is not over the coming week. It will many twists and turns and hopefully, it is my wish to share what I have learned and for those still healing to find peace within themselves.

Part 2 is coming later today.

Quess, you liked the quote too. Change is something that is difficult for everyone. We are all a work in progress are we not?

Seeking the more heavenly aspects of love will be the path of change for me. Glad to see you enjoying the series. Your contributions have been helpful, too.

Blessings,

Sheri

Insanity has been described as doing the same thing over and expecting different results.

And that is the truth! A very good one too.

I am not sure who that quote is from, perhaps, Skariff2 knows.

We need to be praying for those that are suffering with emotions of judgement, envy and jealousy. I think of the verse which includes these words that says "out of the same mouth proceeds blessings and cursing, brethern these things shouldn't be" paraphased.

Now back to the post : One of the biggest growth steps for me this year was learning how to not take offense.

Last year it was learning to forgive others that had wronged me. I think I have a much better emotional grasp of both of these Christian attributes and am much better able to apply it without thinking.

What was the one growth step that you made this year?

Blessings to you,

Sheri

WOW...and I thought my subject matter was more than I could focus on (it is...but thats a subjective thing anyway)! Nice intro...I was pulled in and then the subject matter wouldn't let me go, and now I have to see how it ends (and ends in me as well)!
WOW, I'm glad you enjoyed the intro. Thanks... Please come back and share with us as you can. I see you have already left a few comments, which I will try to respond to this evening. This will be fun.

The sad reality is when people have an attitude like that of my mother, it show's that they have a problem with the fruits being harvested, not the seeds being sown.

Yes and when there are people in our lives that have parented us, often times they are so set in their ways of thinking, they don't want to change. I have seen my mother change a bit, just in the last year. So don't give up hope and continue to pray for those fruits of the spirit to be harvested in both of there lives. The source of a controlling spirit is often difficult for many to pin down and we can only pray that the Lord takes it away putting those energies elsewhere. We are taught to Honor our Father and Mother...sometimes, it can be difficult, eh?

Stay blessed as you journey in life,

Sheri

Oh, you have no clue. It locked my computer up for hours with that smilie blinking Christmas tree card. So...I deleted some lights and it seems to work. Hey, thanks for stopping by and taking interest. Perhaps you would like to come back and give us some of your wise knowledge and experience.

Thanks, BB, I know about time constraints, but glad you found them.

Take care,

Sheri
