Making the list

The Bible says there is another list - a list that's in a book. In Revelation, it's called the "Lamb's Book of Life." And if your name is on this list, that means you're on God's team - forever. I remember as a running up to the bullentin board to see if I made the list. Yes, I did and what joy I felt. I was picked because I had worked hard for it, but yet surprised because I was so humble, perhaps others might have been better than I. Other times, in sports, I missed the cut because I wasn't good enough or I was told I was too tiny or not strong enough to hit the softball far enough. And the choir, well, I missed the cut? The ones in charge of all these groups chose people based upon the candidate's own merit. If you worked hard enough, if you were good enough, if you could make a substantial contribution, you might get picked. Thank God His list is not like that.

The sin that's been in my life, the weakness, the failure, the flaws, the smallness, and the struggle actually disqualifies me for inclusion on that list. But thank God that my audition is not the one upon which His decision as to whether or not to put me on the list is based. My tryout is not the one that counts.

God sees Christ's performance on the Cross. And His sacrifice was good enough to get me on the list. And that's good, because I couldn't get myself on it - no matter how hard I tried.

Some people think they're on the list because they believe. They say that they'll be on the list because of their beliefs - even though their lifestyle, attitude, and relationships with others contradict what they say they believe. The Bible says these people, even though they think they'll be on the list, will be shocked to discover that they are not. True belief shows in their attitude towards sin. Such as a person who says "Oh, I'm just human or nobody's perfect."

This is the true test to see if you're going to be on the list. How do you live your life? Do you believe in Christ and His sacrifice for you? And does your life match what you say you believe? Do you have a gentle spirit? Do you steal from others when they are not looking? Are you moving in the right direction? Yeah, you may screw up every now and then, but does it grieve you when you screw up? Or is it not that big a deal?

Good night everyone.

This is the truth.

Karen, I am sorry I did not call tonight. Let God lead for now.

He will bless you always, you do know that? Right! The avenue has not been opened as of yet, but I will help. Hope we can connect tomorrow.
