FAITH LIKE AN EAGLE Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint. Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.Proverbs 23:4-5 When I read this scripture in proverbs tonight I recall how as a we are taught work ethics to follow in life to reach for the stars, study hard and to give more than 100% to name a few. But then there is the social skills that we are taught which include: To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of ; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To give of one's self and To leave the world a bit better. But how often did we really comprehend as a from what our parents taught us about what the Bible says about all of this. Yes, my parents might have meant well by making us go to church and making us go to school but little real instruction face to face about biblical training was received in my home. How many parents rely on the school system and our religious leaders in Sunday School to teach our ? I often only have a small window of opportunity to teach my because he is always on the go doing so many important things in his mind. But that window of opportunity which I get when he is in the confined space of my car is when I feel He listens. If you are a parent, take time, please to teach and encourage your who is almost an adult with what you know to be true about bible principles so that hopefully it doesn't take them 20 some odd years for them to have that relationship which they can only find themselves with our Jesus. Much of what they will gain from the worldly view will just fly away one day. (¯`•♥•´¯) ¤`•.♥.•´ ¤ (¯`•♥•´¯) |

It took me to marry an Islander & learn something of the island ways to appreciate the deep truth of that proverb [some 40+ years] Now I shudder every time I see another example of Colonial abuse exercised on these people.

Sheri, I so agree with you. I wrote a blog about parent's being the one's who are ultimately responsible for who their children grow up to be. It's wonderful that our children have the priviledges that they have to get an education and to grow up in a society that allows them to worship God freely and openly but all to often parents take these priveledges as an opportunity to bow out of their responsibilities to teach and train their children. It is a sad situation to say the least. I can only commend any parent such as yourself that recognizes not only their responsibility to their children but that it is a rare and wonderful blessing to be able to teach them Gods word. Keep up the good work, Sis.

I agree, the time spent in the car is so special. The longer trips are indescribable. Thanks Sheri!
