Interesting history about the Christian fish symbol

Back in the late days of the Roman Empire, certain groups were forced into hiding by the oppressive hand of Roman authorities. Many sought refuge in caves, and catacombs. The groups used symbols to identify themselves, and separate themselves from other groups using the same caves, or catacombs.

One group used a fish, as its symbol. The fish, was a simple, but crude shape. It started with one arch. A second arch would begin at the tip of the first arch, but at a reverse angle, and intersect the first arch. The result was something that looked like the picture on this blog.

It was said that someone would draw the first arch, and wait. Others would pass by, some looking at the arch, but would just continue on their way. Eventually someone, knowing what the arch represented, would complete the fish. Both parties knew they could talk without fear.

A greek scholor also spoke of a symbol on a "grave marker" he had seen somewhere between Jerusalem and what ever other place he had traveled- and commented wisely and obliquely about Jerusalem and what "someone" in Jerusalem was doing also with a "BIG FISH".
It's as described here as a "safety" marker- but the Jerusalem "happening" was quite out in the open in several ways- -and utterly hidden in the biggest ways.
Naturally-- anyone who was a christian BACK THEN would have understood the "symbolism" and known who to go see IF they wanted to discover THE REAL TRUTH and actually see the BIG FISH THEY WERE FEASTING ON. The greek scholor knew something we today won't know ... for a while yet.

Greetings,
So the pope wears that big pointy hat that looks like a fish opening it's mouth because of this symbol, or because of the fish god thing those people of Nineveh worshiped? .

No King but CHRIST JESUS!!!

Debate rages on about the mitre the pope dons for special occassions. But the greek scholor was speaking just shortly after "christianity" lost it's Christ when "he left physically" as according to the "gospel stories". Even he knew the value of secrecy and did not reveal what he had found out about the group in Jerusalem. It was just to good to be true, WHy mess up a good thing?
But SOMEBODY SURE DID.
