He had no physical attractiveness that we would consider striking that would make us want to get to know him. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. Christ was not the airy-fairy imaginative figure we have painted him to be in our illustrations: handsome, gentle face, soft hands. That’s Christ the myth. Of Saul it is written (in 1 Sam. 9:2) that he was “a choice young man, and a goodly (“towb” Strongs #02896 meaning “pleasant, agreeable"): and there was not among the of Israel a goodlier (“pleasant, agreeable”  person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people.” Saul had a commanding presence.Brethren: are you looking for the Barbie or Ken Christian; a Christian equivalent of Saul? Would you know the difference between one who was good and one who was good only in appearance? God help us, everyone. |
