natural gas bills

10/21 total current charges.........................$54
11/21 total current charges.........................$82

I don't have my last years bills, but the budget amount was OVER $200 a month. even in the summer the budget amount is over $100 a month.

this is just the beginning of the winter. it hasn't been as cold out this year, but it has been cold. hopefully it will stay under $100 even in January and Feb.

I have been wearing socks and sweaters, but it is mostly the candles warming things up. I have been trying different things for candles, but it is less than $25 a month. less than $15 a month for October.

the only downside is that you have to keep the candles burning and that is a risk. but I only keep the candles burning when I am awake, and I never leave them burning when I go out of the home.

Here in So California we've been experiencing some fairly cold (for us anyway) weather as of late, with average day time temps in the upper-60's and overnight temps fluttering in the mid-30's to low-40's.
I've lived here in So California my entire life, so for me anything below 50F is cold.

I live in an older 2-bedroom house that has wood framed windows in every room and wooden French patio doors with screened fold out insets leading to the back yard.
And being that I can see sunlight filtering through every external doorway, I've been doing my best to not use the natural gas wall heater to try to heat the entire house.
My average natural gas bill over the past few months is usually around $18 per month, which is fine with me.

I have an oscillating electric tower heater that I can set the temp I want and even put it on a timer if I so chose that I use solely in my bedroom when I sleep. I keep it set at about 75F, and I sleep very comfortably.
And even with that, my average electric bill over the past few months is at about $50.00.

While not excessive utility costs, every little bit matters in this economy. So I think I might try Rocky's candle heating method to pre-heat my bedroom prior to going to sleep.

my bill for January was $95.

I plan on getting a solar water heater next summer. it won't reduce my bill as much as the candles do, but it will help.

I am also building a pool in the basement, and it will help NOT to run my bill up to heat it.

chris, it is nice to have you be nice on my blog for a change.
