WHO IS A CHRISTIAN? Who is a christian?- Is it one who has attained perfection?(no one can attain perfection here on earth-(Romans3:23,1John1:10) Is it one who gave all he/she has to the poor(giving to the poor is very good but without Christ its just a charity work) Is it one who goes to the church every sunday and every mid-week?(without Christ all our church attendance and work is just ceremonial full of emptiness) Is it one who is always out for peace?(without Christ every peace effort is just worldly or fleshly peace and not true peace) Is it one who loves others(the Bible commands that we love one another but love without Christ is conditional love-true love is unconditional and can only emanate from our new life in Christ Who then is a christian?- John 14:6,"Jesus Christ is the way,the truth,and the life.No one comes to the father except through him" Romans 10:9-10,"with the heart man believes,with the MOUTH confession is made unto righteousness" Acts 4:12,Neither is there salvation in any other:for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved" A christian is one who has confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savour with their MOUTH(one who believes in his/her heart that Jesus Christ is the of God,that He died for our sins,on the 3rd day,God raised Him from the dead,and with their MOUTH confessed Him as their personal Lord and Savour) Does it mean that the day you became a christian,you became perfect?- NO,becoming a christian is the starting point in our christian journey-it starts by renewing our minds from the old way of thinking to Christ's way of thinking.As we feed on the word regularly and do what it says,we get our minds renewed. As christians,we still sin but we repent-we hate sin and/or we're not proud of it.The good news is,we're growing to maturity |
