Revelation: End of days

Just before the start of the New Year the History Channel ran a 2 part series called "Revelation: End of Days". You may or may not have watched it. If you did than you know that it was a point of veiw on how the end days will happen. I can't say that I agree with the show's portrayal of how the end times will come down. I know it is based on a point of view, but I have read and heard other interpretations and ideas as to how the end will come. But there is one thing it did do for me; it made me think about how I need to be prepared and ready for when it does come down. When our Lord comes again I want to be prepared and ready with oil in my lamp ready to receive the bride groom. I had to think about what I had in my house and what I need to get out of it.
Matthew 24: 12 - 18 says
Mt 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Mt 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Mt 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand: )
Mt 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Mt 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Mt 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

I think about how Jesus taught how we must be prepared for his soon return. In Matthew 25: 1 - 13 It says this
Mt 25:1 ¶ Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Mt 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Mt 25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Mt 25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Mt 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
Mt 25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Mt 25vs7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Mt 25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
Mt 25:9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Mt 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Mt 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Mt 25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Mt 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the of man cometh.
Then I looked at this scripture
I Corinthians 15: 51 - 52
1Co 15:51 ¶ Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed

So, I think the show helped me to think about the fact that the Lord will come quickly. He will come and I want to be prepared when that day does come. The show itself I think was somewhat questionable. There are different ways of looking at Revelations and what the Bible says about how the end times will go down. But, after I watched it I did a lot of soul searching and a lot of praying and reading. I am thankful that it at least had that effect on me causing me to go into some great prayer and study time. A great way to bring the New Year in.

One more scripture for encouragement.
I Thessalonians 4: 13 - 18
1Th 4:13 ¶ But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
