remembering where I came from Isa 51:1 ¶ Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. Before I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ I used to see my self as a good guy. I didn’t lie, I wasn’t out robbing people and I wasn’t one of these part all night kind of guys so I thought of myself as being pretty good at the time. I was not aware that Jesus said in John 3 verse seven “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” I had heard of the term being born again but I thought that was for the people who were really out there. I was not aware that we are all in sin until we come to the acceptance of our Lord Jesus Christ. Here is John three one through seven again. Joh 3:1 ¶ There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: Joh 3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Joh 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Joh 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Joh 3-7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Jesus was not talking to someone that would be considered “bad”. He was talking to a ruler of the Jews. He was talking to someone that in the eyes of many led a very clean and righteous life no doubt. But Jesus brought it all back to him. He needed to be born again. So, getting back to me in this day and age, I needed someone to expound the Word more perfectly unto me. I may have been good in my eyes but not in the eyes of the Lord. In fact the Bible says there is none good except God. Matthew 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. It is amazing how God opens my eyes. I was remembering back to things I did that were hurtful to others. Things that I said that were not right. Attitudes that were way off. Yeah, so I wasn’t stooped in drugs. I wasn’t doing things that the world would consider bad per say but I was still not right with God. How thankful I am that he dealt with me and allowed me to come to the knowledge of his truth. I was remembering today what I was saved from and from where God brought me. I am very thankful to be where I am today. I am thankful that God pulled me out of my deception and brought me to the light. While it is not good to beat myself up it is good to remember from where I came. It makes me thankful to know where I am today. |
