Before the Storm hits I was getting in my car to go home tonight, and I turn on the radio. A program related to the news is on and it is telling about different things that are going on in the world today that will not be good for our future. Then I get home and I am looking at a news magazine that I subscribe to and it is talking about various things that can't be good for our future. Then I think of this story that I have heard some preachers tell and it goes something like this: There were two ladies sitting on the porch of the house that they lived in. As they sat they notices the sky became dark and cloudy. The wind became very strong and forceful. Now rain began to fall and the trees were bending from the force of the wind. One lady became very scared and she looked to the other and noticed she sat there calmly. "Oh my!" said the one who to the other. "How can you sit there so calm like that? This storm is really bad! Don't you think we ought to pray!?" The other continued to sit calmly in her chair as she answered "I already have been praying. I prayed before the storm ever hit." It reminds me one of the reasons we pray now. It is to be ready when the storms of life hit. On another note here is a scripture I read before starting my day. It is Psalms 33. I was just going to put verse 12 but the whole thing is so good I had to put it all. Enjoy! Psalms 33 Ps 33:1 ¶ Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. Ps 33:2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Ps 33:3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise. Ps 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. Ps 33:5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. Ps 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. Ps 33-7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Ps 33:8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. Ps 33:9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. Ps 33:10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. Ps 33:11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. Ps 33:12 ¶ Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. Ps 33:13 The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. Ps 33:14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. Ps 33:15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works. Ps 33:16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. Ps 33:17 An is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. Ps 33:18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; Ps 33:19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Ps 33:20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. Ps 33:21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Ps 33:22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. |
