Our Protective Father Psalms 46:1-5 Ps 46:1 ¶ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Ps 46:2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Ps 46:3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. Ps 46:4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. Ps 46:5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. Psalms 61:1-4 Ps 61:1 ¶ Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. Ps 61:2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Ps 61:3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. Ps 61:4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah. Proverbs 18:10 Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. I was remembering when I was a small boy. I used to go places with my father. Places like the YMCA or Indian Guides or other such events. When I was with him I was never nervous or in fear because with him I felt safe. As I got older the day came when I had to go places on my own or maybe just with my older brothers. I didn't have that same feeling of safety. Sometimes I would be downright scared. Now, I was still a , but I needed to learn to do things like swim lessons or do other things where the parents weren't there. Then I didn't have that safe feeling until I got used to the feeling that everything was alright. You may be wondering what does that have to do with anything. Well I am thinking about the safety we have in Christ. It may not be a physical safety all of the time but it is the confidence of knowing that when we lean on him and we seek him he will see us through. In all of my time of being a Christian I was never put through anything I could not handle. God guided me and directed me and I am sure there were things that did and did not happen because he was watching over me. I have a heavenly father who watches out for me and I know that I am safe. The good news here is I don't have to worry about going anywhere without him if I abide with him. |
