All things in Common

Friday night January 17th we had a men's prayer meeting. Before the meeting began the man that was leading the prayer meeting shared 2 scriptures to set the meeting in the right direction.

Luke 18:1-8
Lu 18:1 ¶ And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
Lu 18:2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
Lu 18:3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
Lu 18:4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
Lu 18:5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
Lu 18:six And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
Lu 18:seven And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
Lu 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

And the second scripture was.
Acts 4:29-32
Ac 4:29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
Ac 4:30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy Jesus.
Ac 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
Ac 4:32 ¶ And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

It was the last verse of the second scripture that really caught me as he was reading it. I always thought of all thing common as being the natural things. Food, clothing, money, housing and any of the natural things that man needs to survive. But when he ready this scripture this time I say in a new way. Before he read these scriptures we went around the room and spoke out different needs that were in our lives or perhaps in the ministry or elsewhere. But, the scripture said "they had all things common" so, if that still applies today then when a Christian brother or sister has a need that is spiritual or needs prayer then it is my need too. I should have that understanding when someone else in the body of Christ is burdened with something then, we, in the body of Christ share that burden. Then we must prayer for that burden. So, while it is important to pray for my needs I still must remember the needs of others. Burdens I may not realize are there, are all common. So I need to keep them in prayer as they were my own.

PS: in the first scripture I had to spell out six and seven because the site kept turning the numbers into emoticons

Try this one:

Luke 18:1-8

1 then the Lord....

or:
