Does Jesus Ever Compromise?

This is a scary topic, yes? In Washington, D.C. the problem is described lately that there is no compromise, so we still have this hugh debt problem. As I read and understand politics some, the art of compromise is what works in politics. I have heard many people say that in a marriage it is 50/50.

The problem as I see it is our double world. We live in one world but are not of it. The world we are of does not agree with this world we live in, and the world we live in does not agree with the world we are of? Confused? ha ha.

I have never seen Jesus compromise. No matter what, the Father's Will was the Will of Jesus... and I really mean no matter what. Jesus did not back down on anything, or give a little here, and a little there for convenience. As we try to follow Him, we can run into a world of resistance, strife, attack, etc.

So, what is our purpose in this life and what does it mean for us to follow Jesus today? Here are some things to think about:

1. Our life purpose is to change from darkness to light or self to selfless, or receiving to sharing with His help.

2. Trust God no matter what happens.

3. Believe that the Lord is love, that He is good.

4. Know that the spirit world is our home, not this one.

5. Don't slam others if we don't want to be slammed by satan.

6. Ask the Lord, for anything and everything. Then accept His answer and trust Him.

7. We have enough time to do what He wants for us, but only just enough time. Once we have done His will on earth, we are gone.

8. We are pulled in two directions everyday: one is toward evil and one is toward the Lord. We can follow only one.

9. Always keep studying.

10. Jesus was never alone, and we are never alone. His Father's Presence accompanied Him, and Jesus Presence accompanies us.

The good thing about the Christian life is we are not alone. We have the Lord and each other. Resist evil and He will light our path. He will communicate to us and He will forgive us. I am not trying to write out a new list of commandments. We are way past fallowing commandments. We are to following His Spirit daily. Since He lives inside us, He is not far away. His presence is the best thing we have going.

It is important to remember we are not Jesus. He followed His Father's Will perfectly. WE do not follow God's Will perfectly as it is a growing learning experience for us. But, each time we repent, and reveal more light, we are making progress.

Jesus never compromised. We compromise, but we can learn to get it right more and more. He is with us always. Its a daily grind and a daily glory. Don't be discouraged. There was a time when Jesus asked His apostles if anyone was left to follow Him. This feeling of being alone and without friends is part of our life experience, but is only temporary.

Agree we have the mind of Christ. We also have an annoying persistent inclination to do evil. In this world we are all double minded, but we can resist it. We are being changed from one degree of glory to another. I don't believe in compromise with evil or the Holy Spirit either. As you say, that is double mindedness and we all know what the Lord thinks of double mindedness.

Following Jesus is really an adventure isn't it? He still turns the world upside down and people inside out.

I really like your phrase, "When I grow up, I wanna be just like Him|". This desire will be honored for you I am sure and for anyone who has this desire.

You explained the technical fine point very clearly for me. These things are not so easy to bring out, but I feel the way you did it makes sense for us in this world.
