A Letter Of Thanks

This letter goes out to all politicians, speculators, board advisors, enviromental (extreme) activists, lobbyists, and basically just anyone who thinks they are more important than society as a whole.

Dear Person,

Thank you. Seriously, I mean that. Thank you. I never wanted to really realize my dream of being able to build my new home. Actually, let me re-phrase that. I never wanted to be able to build my new home and not worry that I may not be able to afford it. Thanks to you, and everything you have levied on me (and all the other average joe consumers), I now have plenty to worry about. Let's look at a few of my issues, shall we?

- Fuel. First, I would like to thank the speculators for driving the cost of a barrel of oil up over $136. Yeah, I love paying $4 a gallon for gas. Especially since there is no way, with my job, that I can car-pool. See, I'm a salesman. I drive about 38,000 miles a year. That translates into about $500 worth of fuel a month. Carbon credits? HaHaHa. I get about 25-27 MPG out of my '99 Honda CRV. It has almost 173k on it, but there is no way I can get rid of it. I wouldn't be able to afford a new car payment and my fuel bill. I thought the democrats were gonna fix gas prices last year? Empty promises? No, I'm sure they had more important things to worry about. Which leads into my next point.

- Universal Healthcare scares the piss outta me. Why are we going to trust the gov't to run the Healthcare system when they can't even run their own cafeteria? Did you read about that in the news? No? Well, turns out that the gov't run restaurants have lost money 37 out of the last 44 years they have been in business. This year, so far, they have already lost two million $. Can you just imagine the look of abject horror when Pelosi (or was it Finestein?) had to stand in front of congress and say that the gov't run food service needs to be privatized so that it can make money?

- Real Estate and School Taxes. I never realized how much of a bite these take out of you until I went to the bank the other night. Now, my wife and I are building a very modest house, with a very modest mortgage. Turns out, the freakin' taxes are an extra 40% more on top of my mortgage payment every month. Hey, school systems, how about tightening up the belt a little. You don't need astro-turf for the football field or a new swimming pool. Little Suzy wants to swim? Send her bum to the Y. And how about getting rid of that prevailing wage thing?

- Hey, Mr. President, how about that conservative platform you ran on a few terms back? I mean, I know some crap hit the fan during your first term, but quit spending like a drunken sailor.

- And all of you people that took out a mortgage for more than you could ever hope to pay off? Retards. And even more sinister are the bastards that sold them to you and told you there is nothing to worry about, you'll be fine.

- Alternative fuels? Yeah, I could get behind that. But that technology is years away. (Actually, the technology is here now, we just can't make it affordable.) We need help now. We really screwed ourselves when we didn't drill in ANWR 10 years ago. If we had, we would have been getting an extra 20 million barrels a day by now. And don't give me the environment and caribou crap. There isn't a tree within 700 miles of where they want to drill, and THERE ARE NO NATIVE CARIBOU in that region.

- And somebody please explain to me how an animal with a population growth of 5x makes it on the endangered species list. I'm waiting.

With all of this crap that's going on, I wonder how people make it. My wife and I make decent money, and are keeping things in line, but barely. After we have our second , that's it, no more . Even if we wanted more, there's no way we could afford them. And that's a shame, too, considering that in order to just keep the American population steady with the world's population growth, each American family needs to average 3.4 .

Now, that all being said (and yes, I do feel a little better, thank you) there is no way in heck anything is going to stop me. I will sell firewood, vegetables, plasma, or semen to make sure that the women in my life have a roof over their heads and food in their bellies.

Lastly, I would just like to thank ourselves. Yes, that's right, ourselves. We are the ones who have allowed all of the people at the top of this rant to run all over us. Let's just bury our heads in the freakin' sand and hope that the gov't will take care of us. Way to go.

May the Lord bless you and keep you

I work for a home heating oil company (about 7000 customers, not a huge company) and you wouldn't believe the outrageous things I've heard from people in the past year...saying we 'screwed' them...and when I try to educate them about the Wall Street investors being allowed to trade - NEVER ever intending to take possession of the oil - it's so freakin outrageous that they have been allowed to do this. JUST before Congress passed a law to prohibit them, they 'voluntarily' stopped...read that 'temporarily'.

Walking, and praising and trusting my Lord for the rest of my life
