LAST NITE IN THE PRAISE & WORSHIP SING-A-LONG........

.....I was talking to Jil and Appreciate about my mama and they were so kind to let me know that they would certainly be praying for her, as so many of you have also. I told them that I was going to write a blog, and had actually started a few times since mama's health has taken a turn, but each time I would start I would just cry and would delete. Maybe because I was having issue's accepting what is happening and that I am going to lose her. Maybe, because I am human, I had a question for God...."why are You letting her lay and suffer so when You know that her desire is to be with You"?

I answered my own question the other day when I was talking to someone that asked how my mama was doing. I said to this person....

"ya know, I don't understand why this woman who is a strong prayer warrior, a woman of faith, who has devoted most of her entire life to serving the Lord, has to lay and suffer. Her and grandchildren and neighbors, many who are not Christians, are seeing this and instead of seeing a God who is compassionate, a God who doesn't want us to suffer, a loving God, they are seeing the longevity of pain, the struggling to eat or breathe, and some of them get angry and bitter. But even through this when one comes to visit and they ask her how she is, she manages a smile and says....oh, I'm getting stronger everyday. They all know she believes in prayer and healing because they have called her in the middle of the nite asking her to pray. So, I suppose if just one of these people remember that during a visit and it changes their life, then maybe her being here just a little longer is worth just that one soul". GASP!!! What did I just say???? I answered my question...why is she still here?....for just that one!

So, last nite during the Sing-a-long I told mama that the people in the room said hello and she did her usual wave and told them God bless you and usually she turns the tv to her favorite program and the volume up to around 84! But not last nite...instead she drifted off to sleep, which is something she has been doing a lot lately. She has fear this morning, she got up and weighed and was at 88.5 lbs. This is down about 4 lbs from last week. In the spring she weighed about 126 and by mid summer she was down to 112. This is when her doctor became more concerned. Then she ran a fever and lost muscle control temporarily which put her in the hospital and was then diagnosed with aspiration pnuemonia. The anti-biotics didn't seem to do the job and they tried a few other things but nothing seemed to help. They told her and us mid September that she had come to the end of this long road she had been traveling on for so long. We had decisions to make, and did. We came home with the help of Hospice, and between me and my sisters we rotate staying here with her.

My mama has 3 autoimmune diseases....Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Myasthenia Gravis, and Sjogren's. Normally, the immune system helps protect the body from harmful substances. But in patients with an autoimmune disease, the immune system can't tell the difference between harmful substances and healthy ones. The result is an overactive immune response that attacks otherwise healthy cells and tissue.

I love my mama so very much, I think all of you know that! I can't imagine what it will be like without her here to share things going on in my life. Here to go shopping (her favorite thing, bottom of the list of my favorite things). Here to go out and prune her rose garden. Here to sit and watch the Hallmark movies with over and over. But most importantly, here to pray with. Oh, don't get me wrong...I know how to pray by myself, and do it a lot. But praying with mama....well, they were strong prayers, as if she were letting the Lord know that she really meant business...LOL...but yet was very humble.

I thank you again and so does mama for your continued prayers, it means the world to us. And although she doesn't really know you, she has been here on BC with me, talking sometimes through me to you, for the last 4 years and she does pray for each of you!

I asked mama...."In your life, what are you most proud of? Her answer....My walk with God".

I asked mama...."What are you most disappointed in? Her answer....Nothing really, then quickly said...that I didn't get to see the rapture".

My response to her was....."The day's not over"!!!

Oh sweetie!
My momma stepped over the threshold into her new home on July 21, 2004. I miss her today as much as I did then. I was a single mom for years when my 2 oldest were small and I lived with my momma and step dad. I don't know what I would have done without her. She helped me raise my babies as I was just a baby myself. I loved her very much and this time of year is especially hard.
Give your momma a big hug for me!

Laugh when you feel like crying
Love like you've never been hurt

Oh one more thing if I may. Your mama won't miss the rapture! For the dead in Christ will rise first and those that are alive and remain will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
Y'all will meet again in the rapture in the air!
Now how awesome is that!

1 Thessalonians 4
New American Standard Bible
16For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Live like there's no tomorrow
Laugh when you feel like crying
Love like you've never been hurt

Hi TC

I was a single mom too! Still am! I also lived with mama and my step-father who was a wonderful man. They helped take care of my girls while I finished my schooling. It is a hard time right now yes, as all the holidays will be as mama decorated for all of them, even groundhog day...LOL

She sends a big hug back to you and a heart full of love from both of us

Hello driftman and this is from mama...

She is right there with the singing, well until Ty Pennington comes on the tv and then she is deaf to the world But if I play a Gaither song, or Alan Jackson, those are usually her choice! I do so appreciate all the love and prayers coming our way, and we send them back out to each one as well. We have some awesome friends here

I think that everyone does a great job in the sing-a-long the mix of songs, new ones and old hymns, bluegrass, country, rock...it's just a great time...and for the ones that don't come, well they are just missing a great blessing!

Blessings to you my friend...Marianne

What a blessing your Mama has been to you and your family. To have a Godly mother to walk beside you in life is precious. It's a bitter sweet time as one knows the time is short - as you and so many will miss her, yet as woman of God we know she will be going home soon to be with her Heavenly Father. You have a life time of beautiful memories to share with family friends - what treasures and nuggets they are and will be as you will reflect back on a life well lived.
Blessings

Yes Linda she certainly has been a blessing! There were days, some time back, that I truly thought mama would see 90, even tho she had problems she always seemed to overcome and continue but doesn't seem to be so this time. But then I know only to well that whatever is the Lord's will is what will be

Blessings to you and to your family my friend..Marianne
