cursing the bars or things of this world

Hey ALL;
I would like some feedback on this one. My sister who is a pentecostal/charasmatic and a big fan of Benny Hinn and the like says that we should "curse" bars and such places. She says when she drives by a bar she'll pray that they will be destroyed by floods or pests and have to go out of business. I believe we should pray for those that run such places and attend places like that, but to put a curse on them? She points out how Elijah put a curse on the that were teasing him about being bald and the bears came and ate them up. There are curses mentioned in the OT, but I don't believe this applys to the NT. What do you think? Please let me know. I think my sister is misguided on this one. God bless. Pucky

Its like asking why there are children living in poverty
Or why there is so much violence and crime...

Nothing is alive, nothing dies and nothing whatsoever is allowed to happen without the permission of the Lord almighty.

This is one person, not pentecostals etc in general, please remember that. It causes so much trouble, generalising, I am pentecostal, evangelical etc, whatever, I am a christian or as some say a follower of Christ, I am not a fan of Benny Hinn and I do not call down curses on things, but ask God to step in and shut it down ie outlaw bike gang just opened up in our town and I know first hand the harm that goes with those places, people here protested a s-x shop opening but did not protest the clubhouse! GBU!

I had Benny here in the Orlando area for 20 years. I know some of his family. I know his previous body guards. Its not pretty. I know Jesus cursed one thing, a fig tree.

His actions in regards to this is ridiculous, and your original thoughts are true. Its silly to think this way.

I'm a pentecostal and have been for decades and I certainly do not curse people or places - never ever. I have been known to pray against the spirit behind certain things - like tarot card readers in open markets that what they say would be confused, because I do believe we have the authority in Jesus to do that and to pray against the spirit of this world etc.
We are to love the sinner but hate the sin - we are to have compassion on them for there but for the grace of God....

One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
