Life and Money is good these days compared to when we started out.. There is always so much talk about POOOOOR starting out.. or how money don't buy as much or on and on it goes.. BUT is that really so? Even if we go by minimum wage or what ever we got when we started working.. Yep, some of us had a first job that did NOT pay the minimum, but lets say minimum or close to it.. AND then when we consider what we got for the amount, often it seems, in most cases, we had it way worse back then... Or at least for the things a BOY or wannnna be man felt he had to have.. OK, for you gottttta pick me apart types.. yep the ones that say I CAN NOT speak for ALL WANNNNA BE MEN.. I can talk of the things I thought I had to have... An hours pay would buy you 7 to 10 sodas or POP as we called it. NOW, that same hour will get you probably about a case of sodaPOP, at least a 12 pack.. That hour would get you about 3 gallons of gas where now you will get the same three maybe 4 gallons depending... Our cars.. if you punched it and opened up the 4 barrel, three deuces or maybe the quadrafour/quadrajet would eat that hours pay worth of gas in just a couple minutes.. NOW if they PUNCH their 4x4 TOY PU or other screaming meany tight wound rubber banded go cart engines in THEIR GOTTA HAVE CARS.. if they do they will get WHAT, at least 15 minutes out of the gas.. shooot maybe they will even get a half hour.. What about car insurance? Seems to me being a MALE .. of course NOT MARRIED.. and GOD FORBID under 25 ... not even to mention when we had some ADD on for rates.. My insurance cost at least twice maybe more than the of today.. It at least cost as much as theirs does, but sure seems to me it cost way more. AND car prices almost percentage wise seem less NOW than they did back then, especially NEW cars when you compare at times want one of the smaller ones where we often wanted the HUGE MoPar.. NOW again if a person finds the OLD HAVE TO HAVE TOY PU 4x4 many boys today want it is about the cost of MY NEW MoPar.. that is a savings of about 6 months of work by the pay scale of today.. The "fill you up" hamburgers back then was 5 for a dollar, so I am sure that was a savings.. who knows.. Well, they were a single compared to Mackkkies or the KINGS doubles for a dollar that are out now, so I guess you would still be saving if you even got $5.00 worth today with figuring hourly wage... When you figure a buck was an hour of our work then the youth today are spending less than an hours pay to get 5 burgers.. BUT 3 will fill you as much or more than 5 of our singles filled us, so they can save 2 bucks on the burgers alone getting them almost an additional gallon of gas.. In fact to get the needed amount of "fill you up burgers" with today's pay leaves you with enough left over to buy almost 2 gallons of gas compared to what we had.. Soon enough you will see HOW I explain to my .. compared to me, THEY have their gas free with all they save.. BUT I still do NOT get it.. They shake their head, look at me funny and then ALL they say is DAD, can I have some money for gas.. Anyway.. We can figure all we want.. take a look at rent costs.. at utility bills or about anything we want and it is easy to see where MUCH is as cheap or cheaper than it was when we started out... NO, not dollar wise, but percentage wise.. AND you better bet your sweet bippy I have figured and figured this a few times as I try to talk with these boys and get past the guilt they want to push off on me about HOW HARD it is in the world today... GOD FORBID they ask me DAD how did YOU ever start out.. Yep, I explain this and a LOT more to them ...YES, percentage wise MOST things are cheaper than when I STARTED... THEN if that all fails I tell them I married an OLDER RICH woman as I tell them to get the frick out and go back to work.. DON'T tell me it is harder today than it was way back or when I was starting out.. JUST do the math and feel sorry for ME... DON'T think I will feel sorry that any have to have CABLE or their BIG SCREEN TV and all the other gadgets or I will shut off the water and build an outhouse.. DON'T talk to me about the cost of clothes and shoes or I will show you what it is like to have 2 pairs of shoes.. one pair a year. and to try to rotate 3 or 4 pairs of pants and about 4 or 5 shirts.. I am telling you, we can live a long time buying clothes with the price of ONE TV.. ONE month of Premium Cable will go a LONG way buying "fill you up" hamburgers. I am here to tell you.. LIFE don't get any better than we have it today..

Thank you, and sorry I did not log in to see this sooner.. Yes, chicken use to be cheap, but they have figured out how to have the price of that way up in some cases.. I often try to buy the stuff that has the mark down on it and cook it instantly as it is quite a savings most times.. I mean meat wise.. NO, not the fish as that would have to be very fresh for me to do it as I don't care a lot for its taste most times.. You have a great day and again thank you..
