CRUSHED Have you ever thought about the process of making wine, in particular the crushing of the grapes? Take an ordinary grape off the vine. On the outside, smaller than the eye can see, lies the wild yeast. When this yeast is exposed to the sugars in the grape/s, a chemical reaction takes place. The yeast feeds on the sugar and produces alcohol. Not many people are aware of the process that the Lord takes us through often mistaking it for an attack of the enemy. In a sense the yeast and sugar are like two lovers that are powerless to meet unless that impenetrable barrier is ruptured by an outside force. Another thing about the grape is, that, once crushed it forever changes it’s appearance, still recognisable but visibly bearing the wounds it was dealt. The world and the enemy crushes too, but this is a crushing to destroy, to lay waste, to utterly annihilate, without mercy and love. One last thing. Hold the grape to your nose?? You can hardly smell it, now crush it and take another smell. What you get is a sweet smelling aroma that is very pleasant to behold. HIS peace be with you all. Ian. |

A good post. You present an interesting analogy. I like what what you said about many mistaking the process the Lord takes us through thinking it is an attack of the enemy. You see, every true born-again Christian must come to the realization of this truth, we cannot live a successful Christian life in our own strength. When we first come to Christ, there is that blissful peaceful feeling in the heart because we are now living in the Divine nature. After a while, trials and testing comes and we falter in our walk with Christ. The novice Christian will try to walk in his own strength or try to live by some kind of law and will find that the Sin Nature has revived in his life. The Apostle Paul struggled with this same issue in Romans Chapter 7. This goes to show us that we cannot trust our own strength, we must deny ourself (our own strength and intellect) and place our faith squarely in Christ Jesus and in His Finished Work at the Cross. Christ has already won the victory at the Cross. Our emphasis is always to be in Christ. Even in the very best of us there is only weakness there. Christ alone is our strength. Another thing about the grape is, that, once crushed it forever changes it’s appearance, still recognizable but visibly bearing the wounds it was dealt. Just as the grape bears the wounds it was dealt, Christ shall bear the scares in His hands and in His feet as an eternal testament to what He did for us at the Cross. Hi Ian, Wonderful wonderful analogy - now everytime I have a nice glass of merlot I will have more to contemplate... K One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple. Psalm 27:4
