Your Intentions Recently a situation arose that challenged the voracity of my faith, and required me to make a decision - the world's thinking, or Gods thinking? When people desperately need help...do we step out? Or do we think - my own situation isnt that great... I dont know how I will pay my OWN bills next month...or the one I wrestled with... How do I even know that this isnt a scam? My mom once told me, that if we step out in love to help someone, God knows our heart. He sees our INTENTIONS, even if the recipient of our aid is dishonest. He sees that we truly wished to help. In the end, people will sometimesdisappoint and scam us. But that is THEIR soul and moral dilemma, not ours. I am not saying that we indiscriminately start giving money and resources away without prayer and thought. But when faced with a chance to help someone, we need to suppress the worldly thinking that would tell us to hold tight to what is ours ...and simply ...HELP. Think of the difference we will make in His name. God will take care of the rest. |

Pete's partly correct. Those who abuse our desire to assist though- must be weeded out IF they are causing us to use "limited" resourses we could indeed use later to help some one we KNOW is genuine. "wise as serpents- gentle as doves"... pick real needs to serve. Here is a link to follow about someone here at BC who needs help. Consider- and decide if you will allow the father to lead you. You too. You say you wish to serve... here is something you could do- to serve a lady here at BC. Don't forget- that "ten fold" idea you mentioned... even if that is not the reason we do our alms. [post 128025]

You have to be yourself. Be true to the person God created. We will hit on some and miss on some, but the important thing is to be in the game. Blessings, Dennis
