Marines

My and I took a drive to Walmart over the weekend to pick up some school supplies. We picked up an ice cream on the way out and took a seat on a bench in front of the store.
Sitting, eating our ice cream, we noticed a group of six teenage males off to our right. They were riding skateboards and being very loud.
Moments after we sat down, two US Marines exited the store. Within seconds the six males stared harassing the Marines. It was a vulgar verbal assault. My and I, amongst all the other exiting customers, sat and listened in amazement.
The six men told the Marines they need to go back to Iraq and die. They added that the Marines should take the President with them…and much more.
I am not easily intimidated by people, but I felt paralyzed as I sat and watched. The Marines politely asked them to step aside and never even responded to the accusations.
After it was over, I stood talking with a few customers who were in as much shock as I was. The Marines drove by and we all thanked them for serving.
What has caused people to be so rude and disrespectful? I understand (to a degree) that some don’t agree with the war, but why do we hold our men in uniform responsible for our countries foreign policies? These were not only soldiers, they were at least in their 30’s and elders to the teens.

This burns me up on so many levels! While I have my own thoughts on the war and the politics behind it, I do not believe in disrespecting our men and women in the armed service.

Secondly, these punks are an example of what gives good kids who skate a bad name and reputation. We even have a group called Skaters for Christ here. They are good respectful kids.

As for the parents of these punks, we don't know their situations either. I know some really good parents who have raised some really fine kids only to have one break the mold for some reason.

God bless you!

Greetings,
God works in mysterious ways, and satan, we know, works here and now, in this age, as well. The teens are probably mimicking what they have been indoctrinated into, the hate of protecting liberty.. Soon, they will not only see how a soldier fights an earthly battle, but how our Lord Christ Jesus wields a sword...

No King but CHRIST JESUS!!!

Aw Paula, that is so sad...you and I both have served in the Army and have a deep love and appreciation for our military; I for one particular Navy Commander working with the Marines and soon to head to Iraq himself. This kind of behavior is what they encounter in Iraq; it is just a shame that they have to encounter it here. But as Marines they handled it with decorum and dignity as they should...they are a step above. It honestly reminds me of the Vietnam war era...once the war was not popular many in our country turned against our soldiers. Some in my Unit that had served in Vietnam shared about how they were spit upon when they returned home. It is the condition of some factions in our country and those boys likely are repeating what they have heard at home....let us pray, pray, pray; and pray for the upcoming elections as they will be a determining factor in the support shown for our military. Our guys need our continued support and prayers. Thanks for sharing this, Paula...we need to know.

I remember it Deena. I remember watching it on the news. It was sad then and it's sad now.
The lack of respect really upsets! We are all free to have our opinion (Because of those soldiers no doubt), but why can't we treat people with dignity?!!
I am curious to see who these people will run to when the bomb drops!!
Thank you for serving our great country!
