A Broken Heart

Tonight while thinking of those with recently broken hearts, those in pain, a song I had not heard in more than 20 years came to mind. I decided it would be appropriate to share here...I think the words will speak to many.

A Broken Heart by Dallas Holm

So you got your heart broke in two,
And you hurt so bad you don't know what to do;
And you think that you're the only one who's ever
felt this way.
But there was sure another One, another day.

And He died of a broken heart
It broke for you and me.
He loved us more than words can say,
And more than we could see.
His death was not from pain He felt while hanging on a tree;
No, He died of a broken heart for you and me.

And it seems you've come to the end.
And you're standing all alone without a friend.
And you're just so sure that no one's ever hurt
this bad before,
But there was One who hurt this bad, and even
more.

And He died of a broken heart
It broke for you and me
He loved us more than words can say
And more than we could see
His death was not from pain He felt while hanging
on that tree;
No He died of a broken heart
Oh, he died of a broken heart
Yes, He died because He loves you and me.

Hey Deena,

Wow how powerful to think of God dying of a broken heart. It's not only poetic prose, but truth paraphased! Hmmmmmmm? I suppose you don't have to explain what prompted you to share this.

Sweet dreams and good night,
Vincent

Some medical experts say that Christ literally died from a broken heart...that his heart burst or ruptured...and I believe His heart breaks daily over those that reject Him...surely He understands then when we feel hurt and rejection.

It seems that there have been more than a few broken hearts recently, mine included....I actually had not even thought of this song in more than 20 years and yet as I was sitting pondering all the broken hearts on here the song quickly came to mind...I felt compelled to share it.

It certainly puts things in perspective...and shows that God identifies with the pain of a broken heart.

Hope you have sweet sleep as well Vincent,
Deena

Hi Deena!These lyrics just remind me of how selfish the flesh part of us can be sometime..we focus too much on our emotional pain..and not enough on Christ Jesus..GBY..Jil..

I don't think God rebukes us for feeling our pain...I think He wants us to put it into perspective, to realize also that He identifies with our pain. But we can rise from the ashes...we do not need to stay forever in the pain. Joy will come in the morning, so to speak.

I had a feeling it would be timely for more than a few...myself included.

I would have loved to have met everyone, but received some difficult news late Thursday night and spent most of the weekend coming to grips with that...I would not have been very good company. But perhaps another time...I told Terrie you all are not but a few hours from me.

Hi Deena,

I know so well what you mean when you are coming to grips with a situation and how it effects you so that you cannot tune into others in a social setting. Sometimes I'd make my visits to Toronto and the heart ache would be so intense that I was not much company to anyone. I didn't even try to put on a persona. It's only been the last two visits that I have experienced enough healing to interact with others again with more vitality.

Enjoy your day off today,
Vincent

Good morning there Vincent...no, I just was not up for it this past weekend, no offense to anyone. Just hard to be in pain with everyone else around you having such a great time, new romances budding, etc. Better to have some cocoon time in the very short term....and time with a friend that knows me very well and understands. I am so glad you are having such a good time with your family and enjoying some artistic time as well. Oh, and I am off this whole week! Had hoped to be spending it with you know...but instead here I am...waiting for the refrigerator repair man...top half of fridge and freezer warm/thawed, bottom half frozen (ok, I am thinking of a hysterical analogy to people, forgive me!)...from what I've read should be a fan...and hopefully not a part that will have to be ordered...will be throwing out a lot of food. Beyond that I have not even told others I am off this week...just want some quiet time, get some projects done that I have been postponing, etc.
What's on your agenda today?
Deena
