You have to give it away before you can get it....

Gods ways never make sense but they're always the best way.We can never figure out why God does things the way he does yet comes up with the perfect end result.

The story in the Bible that always speaks to me is the one where the woman and her are starving and have enough food for one last meal and Elisha goes and tells the woman prepare me a meal. I always wonder what the thoughts were running through her head. Like how dare you, we're dying here let us eat our last meal so we can die slower or something like that.

I wonder if she had prayed for more food and was just prepared to give up and die because maybe the answer didn't look like what she had perceived. Maybe she had prayed for manna and when the Prophet came and asked her for all she had left...well she gave it to him.

Her answer came in an unexpected way it was by giving all that she recived her miracle. It was giving her last meal that God gave her back an endless supply.

I've been in a place lately where somethings appear to be dying that I've been holding on for dear life as they were promises I was clinging too. I know others are in similar positions and feeling like I am where the letting go is the hardest thing to do.

When Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac God hid a ram in the thicket. When the woman and were dying God hid a life time supply of food through a man who appeared to be taking everything.

The key I keep seeing is they were willing to let go of life giving promises no matter what.God asks us to empty our hands so he can fill them. Its a letting go of all control or trust in the object and placing it in the giver. Its a hard place to be but we serve an awesome God and God never fails us as we trust him.He may answer us in ways that make no sense but he will answer...

actually she already had the food which was provided by God in the first place, so she is just giving what God had already provided.

No, we are just to abide as a branch and anything we bless others with is just something he gave. Otherwise its just a performance based relationship

Dennis,

Think deeper...This is something on a personal level I am dealing with and from a revelationship standpoint on something the Lord is showing me for myself and others. I already got the confirmation call from a brother tonight that got the same message about letting go of something. Its about giving back to God something he gave. Its an altar experience. Blessings

Death to self is contrary to what the world teaches us. but so necessary in order to gain the riches God has for us. And I think the struggle makes the blessings from God even greater. It is that free will that we have and that we give over to HIM. It is a conscious choice to let HIM have control. And when we finally see how wonderful His gifts are, the easier it is next time to die to self again. My "dying-to-self" is a daily thing. Sometimes it is easier than at other times, but always worth it.

I hope through your struggles, you will be able to see the path God wants you to take.
