Noah story - A compassionate God????? I've never thought of the Noah story in this sense before, but my reading for today was Genesis 7 - Noah. This is what the posting said "The call to Noah is very kind, like that of a tender father to his to come indoors when he sees night or a storm approaching. Noah went into the ark as soon as God bade him, for he knew it was to be his place of refuge. It is very comfortable to see God going before us in every step we take. Noah had taken a great deal of pains to build the ark, and now he and his family, were to be kept alive in it." When I think of Noah I always think of the animals, God saving them alone, and God being angry with man for his evil ways. I don't see God in the story as a calm compassionate God I guess the view I have of the story is the sunday school side we are brought up with which is all about the animals. It was good to read this thought for the day though and see it from a different angle. But I still think it is hard to think of God as kind when he has just destroyed the earth??? Even though he did save Noah. I think I'd rather think of Jonah going to Nineveh and how God had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened. |

God is loving and compassionate but he also hates evil and will judge sin. Isaiah 42:8 " I am the Lord; that is my name! And My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images."
