"Hope Floats"

1 Cor 13:13 says: But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love. There is another scripture that speaks of the gifts and goes on to state but rather that you may prophesy. The one thing about this is that faith and hope is from God, just as are all the gifts of the Spirit. Yes the greatest is love. However all is of God.

I dont want to list all the gifts but all of them are for personal and corporate edification of the body of Christ. They all have wonderful blessing and value in peoples lives. What is Faith? Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

1 Corinthians 13:1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.

We do not always act lovingly. It is just how it is. We get caught up in keeping a close eye on love. We put certain values on certain gifting, but then sometimes we get away from realizing how everything works together in all the gifts as well as the very simple things. Let all things be done in love. We are human and we will all fail, but that should indeed be our goal.

The word says we are saved by faith. It also states that it is impossible to please God without faith. In Christianity we talk a lot about faith and love. Rightfully so. But lets go back....what is this faith that pleases God? Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. There is that word hope again. Hope. There is assurance found in hope if we are using faith. So they work together, hoping, believing and Love. Inseparable.

Personally I believe our visions and goals and dreams are all loped together. If you have a 6 cylinder engine and two of the spark plugs foul, it runs very rough. It still runs but not along the lines of the intended design. For me personally I have been running on those 4 cylinders for awhile. i did not realize it, but I had lost my hope. I was surviving but not living. i was willing to settle. I had forgotten that no did not always mean no and that it just might mean; no, not yet.

Without hope there is no assurance in your trust, so the trust becomes forced and not natural. You also can not please God. He can restore your hope if you are willing to allow him. It isnt found in 12 step programs or a formula. I am reminded of a character in the Everwood tv show. Dr Brown. His pastor and wife were having issues. Every time the pastor got near his wife, he broke out bad in a rash. Well after much testing, Dr Brown figured out the pastor was allergic to the steroids in the Chicken she ate. She had lost weight and eaten a lot of chicken in doing so.

Well, Dr Brown was thrilled and proceeded to tell them. But they told him it wasn't just that, but they had grown apart and were divorcing anyway. It hit Dr Brown hard as he had lost his wife in an automobile accident, and he could not understand their desire to not try. Later that night Dr Brown went into the sanctuary by himself and prayed. He said God, I have lost my joy. I need my joy in life. Please give me my joy back. That scene has always been burnt into my memory. Yeah it was a tv show. But I also think at one time or another it is the plea of every Christian.

So I said, God I have lost my hope. All my dreams i have foolishly let go of. I began settling God. What I believe you have placed inside me, I let go of. Please God, restore my hope so that I may feel the assurance of my faith once again. he is doing that. Things are just things now. They are no longer Giants in the land. Peace is bigger. I know that if it is happening for me. It can Happen for you too. Hope.... don't get up without it.
