The Proverbial KISS

Life is complicated, and has many many forks in the road. There is the old little statement... KISS meaning Keep it Simple Stupid. So very true.

Jesus, it is another day lord. Live through me, guide me and teach me today. Thank you for your love and provisions and peace in my life once again today.

Then it is just an onward inward conversation for that day. Perhaps a day with no storms and perhaps not. But no matter, he is with me despite my situations and..... my self.

I always speak out against religion. Against law giving and I can hear the gasps... You mean you just sin sin sin and think nothing of it? No i just Live Live Live and want that to be Jesus living through me as he desired when he taught about abiding and later Paul confirmed it in his own walk in life.

The things of the Spirit bring life. Religion is dead and brings no life. The Prodigal Sons brother was a law keeper, always doing what he thought was expected. But he also did not have intimacy in his relationship with his father. If he did he would understand how his father felt about the Prodigal and could have rejoiced at the return just out of knowing how his father felt.

So Religion, brings no life. God is Spirit and to worship him we must worship in Spirit and truth. It is simple. Jesus is the full armor. Just invite him to live through you instead of thinking somehow you have to do it on your own. That way always fails

Very true, religion is dead and how amazing how many people are law keepers.

Law keepers like the Pharisees who spent much time and energy on the law exhalting themselves. Like whitewashed tombs Matthew 23:27 They gave the appearance of beauty on the outside but were full of dead mans bones.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary

23:13-33 The scribes and Pharisees were enemies to the gospel of Christ, and therefore to the salvation of the souls of men. It is bad to keep away from Christ ourselves, but worse also to keep others from him. Yet it is no new thing for the show and form of godliness to be made a cloak to the greatest enormities. But dissembled piety will be reckoned double iniquity. They were very busy to turn souls to be of their party. Not for the glory of God and the good of souls, but that they might have the credit and advantage of making converts. Gain being their godliness, by a thousand devices they made religion give way to their worldly interests. They were very strict and precise in smaller matters of the law, but careless and loose in weightier matters. It is not the scrupling a little sin that Christ here reproves; if it be a sin, though but a gnat, it must be strained out; but the doing that, and then swallowing a camel, or, committing a greater sin. While they would seem to be godly, they were neither sober nor righteous.

One of the first songs I wrote after coming back to Jesus in my thirties, was to state just what you posted TM. And what real religion is-it's in James... Does anyone know what it is? I'm sure ya do. Blessings

I agree with what much od Matthew Henry says there. The Gospel of christ was also a Gospel to the jews and was fulfilling the law. The Gospel of the New Covenant is best refined and found in the writings of Paul because it was Christ who revealed it to Paul. The bible is a book of steps. Creation, Old covenant, Christ comes, then the Cross...then the New Covenant begins. Paul wrote 2/3rds of the new Testament and you can see his personal growth in his writings as he went along and matured.

4gvn, I think it is an evolving process. The more we just let go and let God, don't concern ourselves with a perfection and realize that our completeness is only in him...then we let go of goofy religious teachings and just trust him
