Real Reason they keep the sabbath

The Real Reason they Keep the Sabbath They vow to accept Ellen G. White as a prophet at their baptism.

Official SDA Baptismal Vows

Vow 8: I accept the Biblical teaching of spiritual gifts, and believe that the gift of prophecy is one of the identifying marks of the remnant church."

Vow 11: I know and understand the fundamental Bible principles as taught by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It is my purpose, by the grace of God, to order my life in harmony with these principles

Vow 13:: people of every nation, race, and language are invited and accepted into its fellowship. I desire to be a member in this local congregation of the world church. They are vowing to accept:

The 27 Fundamental beliefs of Seventh-day Adventists

Fundamental Belief 17 "The gift of Prophecy:

One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G. White. As the Lord's messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction . They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested. Support is found in these Bible passages: Joel 2:28,29: Acts 2:14-21: Hebrews 1:1-3: Revelation 12:17: Revelation 19:10"

To become a Seventh Day Adventist you must vow to follow the official "27 Fundamental beliefs" of their church and one of these beliefs is that Ellen G. White was an inspired prophet!

Why do they believe this?

Because E llen G. White claimed that she went to heaven and learnt that in spite of what the Bible says, the sabbath law WAS NOT nailed to the cross:

Ellen G. White wrote under "inspiration" the following:

In "Life Sketches of Ellen G. White," published by the Adventists, Mrs. White's relates her "vision" of the Sabbath day.

"Elder Bates was resting upon Saturday, the seventh day of the week, and he urged it upon our attention as the true Sabbath. I did not feel its importance, and thought that he erred in dwelling upon the fourth commandment more than upon the other nine. But the Lord gave me a view of the heavenly sanctuary. The temple of God was opened in heaven, and I was shown the ark of God covered with the mercy seat. Two angels stood one at either end of the ark with their wings spread over the mercy seat and their faces turned toward it. This, my accompanying angel informed me, represented all the heavenly hosts looking with reverential awe toward the law of God ;which had been written by the finger of God. Jesus raised the cover of the ark, and I beheld the tables of stone on which the Ten Commandments were written. I was amazed as I saw the fourth commandment in the very center of the ten precepts with a soft halo of light encircling it .Said the angel, 'It is the only one of the ten which defines the living God who created the heavens and the earth and all things that are therein."' (Pages 95 and 96.)

Interestingly, history shows that the Adventists actually borrowed the sabbath law from the Seventh-day Baptists! According to Arthur S. Maxwell, the editor of Signs of the Times, a leading Seventh-day Adventist journal, the Sabbath observance was started by a small following in the former Miller group that restudied the prophecies after the Miller group melted away. He writes: "Accepting the Sabbath truth from the Seventh-day Baptists, they became the nucleus of the Seventh-day Adventist movement....''

This seems to be the real source of Mrs Whites 'inspiration'

So why do people bother with Jesus if they do not wish to follow His ways? Does the 7th day group bother you so badly that you will persecute them for not being exactly the way you say they should be? Is that what this is all about- Persecution of a group who believes in God, In Christ an in the word of God- yet they hold the 7th day Holy as God says to do at the direction of someone who may or may not be a legitimate prophet? What does that have to do with salvation if we are able to pick and choose what we believe to be "today's prophecy" from what may indee be "not a prophet".
The question would seem to be- Would Jesus stop holding the 7th day holy? I think we all know the answer to that one --- without the need of a "teacher" to tell us.

Is it "heresy" to "remember the sabbath and keep it holy"?
I do believe that God said it first- and you have yet to show where God rescinded the commandment(s ) in favor of "do what ever ya want to do with my laws". SO is it "heresy" to keep the sabbath day holy" for WHATEVER REASON WE KEEP IT HOLY? Or is it HERESY to teach that GOD DON'T CARE ANYMORE... Hmmmmm?
