if you believed remarriage is a sin

why would you be pursuing it? That says a lot about a person. If you actually believed this and decided to get remarried despite this then, what does your belief system really mean? Mot much in my opinion, if that is what you really believe.

Fulfilling the law means walking in accordance to it, Jesus's perfect obedience made the law obselete to believers in the sense that no one is justified before God by keeping the law, one only given to the Jews.

In the Old Covenant you were (if you were Jewish)judged by the law and found righteous or unrighteous by keeping a law.

Jesus fulfilling the law unto death which brought atonement for all mankind did do away with the laws. In Jer 31:31-34 it prophecies it.

31 "Behold, days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, 32 not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them," declares the LORD. 33 "But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days," declares the LORD, "I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 "They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, `Know the LORD,' for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them," declares the LORD, "for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."

A new Covenant....the Covenant of Christs blood. We are righteous before God because of what Jesus did. Not anything we can do other than believe.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

Col 2:
8 See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. 9 For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, 10 and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority; 11 and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; 12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him. 16 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-- 17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

8 But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, 9 realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers 10 and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, 11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.

Hebrews 8

10 "FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MINDS, AND I WILL WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS. AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE. 11 "AND THEY SHALL NOT TEACH EVERYONE HIS FELLOW CITIZEN, AND EVERYONE HIS BROTHER, SAYING, `KNOW THE LORD,' FOR ALL WILL KNOW ME, FROM THE LEAST TO THE GREATEST OF THEM. 12 "FOR I WILL BE MERCIFUL TO THEIR INIQUITIES, AND I WILL REMEMBER THEIR SINS NO MORE." 13 When He said, "A new covenant," He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear.

Heb 9:

19 For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, 20 saying, "THIS IS THE BLOOD OF THE COVENANT WHICH GOD COMMANDED YOU." 21 And in the same way he sprinkled both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood. 22 And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. 23 Therefore it was necessary for the copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; 25 nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the holy place year by year with blood that is not his own. 26 Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, 28 so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.

Its finished.

It is a lot easier standing before the Lord than our own, our own would stone us, the Lord has grace and mercy

I used to believe that remarriage was a sin, but then, I wasn't pursuing remarriage either.
Now I know differently, and have researched it myself to find what appears to be condemnation for divorced people to remarry is in fact translation errors, as well as understanding errors.

If divorce, and remarriage were in fact sins, as is often advocated, then just like the Bible tells us of all sins, God forgives them. The only exception is blaphsemy against the Holy Spirit, which divorce and remarriage are not.

So to really be quite Biblically logical, it is totally illogical for one to think that remarriage is a sin. That would make God's grace a lie, and\or imply that God doesn't forgive all repented sins unconditionally.

I don't know what you believe, but if you believe remarriage is a sin, please don't waste your time with the 'marriage is forever,' arguements which I know so well, and used to argue too. It really is a legalistic point, to return to O.T. Law. There is God's perfect will, and God's permissible will, and farbeit for us to presume what God thinks when in fact we really have no idea.

Good post Dennis. Very thought provoking.

Yes but it is simpler than that. The law that the Jewish people were once measured by is no longer a measuring stick. The measuring stick is now if you have received Christ as savior the law is dead to you. Keeping it does not save you or keep you saved.

What Jesus did on the cross does. In replacement of the laws and ten commandments is right and wrong written on our hearts by the heavenly father, and now God resides inside of us. Moses did not have that. Neither did Abraham or David.
