The Clear Word Bible Horribly Perverts Deuteronomy 5:3!

Deuteronomy 5:3 in the King James Bible reads...

"The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day."

Clearly, the King James Bible teaches that the Sabbath Day was given by God to a specific people (the Jews), during in specific time period (the Old Testament), in a specific region (Palestine)... "The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day."

Now notice the same verse from the "SDA Bible," i.e., the Clear Word Bible...

"It wasn't only with our ancestors that He made a covenant, but with us and with all who are alive today."

Think Again! Read those two verses again and notice the 180 degree difference. The REAL Bible says that the Lord did not make this covenant with their ancestors. The SDA bible clearly states the opposite. This naturally leads to some disturbing and indicting questions:

Why did the Adventist's change the meaning of Deuteronomy 5:3 to read the complete opposite of what ALL other Bibles read in Deuteronomy 5:3? (look for yourself)

How many other verses in their "Bible" did they change?
The SDA's NEVER quote the Ten Commandments from Deuteronomy because of Deuteronomy 5:3, which clearly exposes Seventh-Day Adventist as a false religion. Adventists teach that the Ten Commandments were not first given at Sinai, but were given to Adam and Eve before the fall of man, before sin began. As evidenced, SDA's were willing to corrupt God's Word in a malicious attempt to justify a false doctrine. This is true of many cults, such as Roman Catholicism, which corrupts the Ten Commandments. If you read the official Catholic Catechism, you'll find that they've eliminated the 2nd Commandment which forbids BOWING to idols. To compensate for the missing 2nd Commandment, they've split the 10th Commandment into two. This is woeful deception!

That is why in Genesis the 7th day isn't called a sabbath, but only the 7th day. It had not been established as a sabbath until Deuteronomy 5th chapter.

I read through Genesis and don't recall one time where Abraham rested on the 7th day let alone calling it a sabbath rest.

With that said, I will say for almost twenty years I kept the sabbath under the leadership within the Worldwide Church of God and what brought a change was the death of Mr. Armstrong. Sadly to say, our teachings & belief was tied directly to the belief on one man. Likewise, I can say, without contempt the teachings of many sabbath keeping church's are tied to human interpretations.

    Quoting Claudia_T:
Never even HEARD of such a thing as "The Clear Word Bible" and no matter WHAT Church you go to if there are MILLIONS of people in that Church, someone is going to come up with "Whatever" ... you always seem to come up with things like this when the reality is that I or anyone else could do the same with ANY Church.

I could go "Jim Jones was a ___________" (whatever he was, a Baptist, Methodist or whatever) and he started a following, THEREFORE that Church is ____________

Its just stupid and irrelevant. There are ALWAYS a Judas, Pharisees and everything else in a Church, a James and John who wanted to rain fire down on someone, it doesnt mean a thing, really. Jesus was going to THAT SAME SYNAGOGUE.
In the March 16, 2006 issue of Adventist Review, Executive Publisher/Editor William G. Johnsson wrote an article appearing on page 5 enttiled "So Many Versions" in which he discusses "Which is the best Bible Translation?" Point 3 of his answer states:

"The most popular paraphrases are The Message, The Clear Word, and The Living Bible. They succeed in making the Bible come alive to modern men and women....
The Clear Word is an 'Adventist' paraphrase, incorporating insights from Ellen White."

From Wikipedia:

The Clear Word, originally published in March 1994 as the Clear Word Bible, is an English paraphrased version and Bible commentary. It was written as a personal devotional exercise by Dr. Jack Blanco, former professor at Southern Adventist University, to be an additional study tool and devotional alongside the Bible. The paraphrase was initially published by the Southern College Press of Southern Adventist University; it is now being published by the Review and Herald Publishing Association, which is owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Clear Word is not officially endorsed by the Seventh-day Adventist Church ...

With that said Claudia, wouldn't you say Clear Word has influenced thinking in the SDA's Church?

You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.
