Law or Spirit

Live by the Law or by the Spirit?

In Jeremiah 31:31-34 God speaks of a new covenant to come. The Covenant of Christ. He calls the old covenant imperfect. He says that he will write moral law on the peoples hearts that come into this covenant.. He says he will have a personal relationship and indwell with these people in this New Covenant.

Hebrews 8:13 says that the old covenant is non existent anymore to a believer in Jesus Christ. The New Covenant reigns. In the Old Covenant, the Gentiles were not included at all. 1 Timothy 1:9 says that the law was only given for the unrighteous to begin with, so they could know they were separated from God.

The Holy Spirit is given now to each believer. No one has more opportunity to hear from him more than another, if they will just listen. He indwells, He does not leave just because we do something stupid. That is an incorrect teaching. He comforts us and teaches us all things.

Galatians 5 says they that are of the Spirit are under no such law. 1 John 1:9 was spoken to the unbelievers telling them that if they confessed their sin, God is faithful and just to forgive them and they can have a relationship with the father, just as the other people in the fellowship mentioned in 1 John1.
