can you be saved and then unsaved and then saved again.

Yes, No, what do you base this on? Sounds like a possible yo yo effect.

Hi again TC

In response to the question presented...No way!

"Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has annointed us in God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee". 2 Cor 1:21-22

A seal is a mark of ownership and security, much as when a king put his seal on a document/scroll or any matter it was a done deal and irrevocable. In like manner the Holy Spirit who endwells the believer acts as that gaurantee. Just as surely as one receives the Holy Spirit just as surely will he enter into the fullness of God's inheritance for them.

Another way of looking at it is "how can I lose that which I did not earn in the first place"? It is a gift of God, we didn't deserve it and performed no work to earn it, just as it cannot be earned by work or deed neither can it be lost by work or deed. Any of the best works we can produce are still filthy rags and God is complete holiness, so let go and let God.

Some try to suggest that they can credit their own salvation by way of the choice they made ( their decision to choose Christ ) but this is not scriptural. Scripture teaches that we were all dead in sin and a dead man ( corpse ) can do nothing to act on it's own behalf, even the abilty to make that choice is by way of the enablement of God through the Spirit to do so. If salvation is by in any way a work ( even making choices ) it is no longer grace ( unmerited favor ) but is in fact a work, the Bible clearly teaches we are saved by faith alone.

"Just as He chose us before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love". Eph 1:4

So we ask ourselves, is it possible for me to be labeled as holy and blameless apart from the free gift of atonement provided us by way of Christ? If anyone can make this boast they have no need of a savior, they need only walk up to the throne and say "scoot over, there's two of us now".

"And I give eternal life, and they shall never perish: neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand: My Father who has given them to Me, is greater than all: and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand". John 10:28-29

Again, the believer is chosen by the Father and given to the Son, we are a gift to Him, He is a gift to us. A gift is not earned, it is freely given and received by those whom the Father has chosen to give it to ( and He makes no errors in judgement ). And who can snatch me out of His hand....no one, not even me ( afterall I am included as someone ).

Well there's absolutely gads more to be referenced on this matter but hopefully I've offered enough to be of help.

Hey, good question bro, look forward to more from you.

Shalom

I am not going to reiterate what I wrote on another blog about this but I will say this:

IMHO, the question that should be asked is not can we lose our salvation - it is very clear that we can't and I could give a slew of verses that clearly teach that. However, there is one thought expressed by Paul and reiterated by others and it is found in Romans 6:1. If you understand that verse and in context you will see the correct question is, "Was the persoan actually saved in the first place?"

Romans 6:1 states, "May it never be! How can we who have died to sin live in longer therein." True gospel salvation always results in a changed life that bears fruit worthy of true repentance. We act like our Father because we are born of Him.

Praise God for His salvation!

Sometimes a post with just a few words like this one will stir some emotions in me...Great Post!.. I felt a little unsaved after being saved...It started years ago when I backslid for a few years feeling down and stupid..This lasted about five years...It wasnt GOD giving up on me. It was me forgetting about GOD...But it did kind of feel like "saved then unsaved then saved"..I now know I was saved all along....Now I cant possibly imagine ever living that way again!...AMEN

‘HE will rule them with an iron scepter.’... He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.... On HIS robe and on HIS thigh HE has this name written:... KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."

Just a minor little correction: Well actually I believe the verse is found in verse 2.

I believe our salvation is secure too. I am no way a Calvinist. First off thanks for your contributions. Lets say a man fornicates that is saved. Just as Ray Bolz struggles with homosexuality despite 4 decades of ministring to people through music. I agree this does not disqualify them from Salvation. Neither situation is a good thing.

But you will get them coming out of the woodwork that are so caught up in perfrmance that they will say some pretty silly judgemental things about them.

Sin is dealt with on the cross to the believer. Emulating Jesus is not what he is looking for. Allowing him to live through us is.

How do you overcome? You overcom because he did. It is errant to think that every scripture is written to the believer.

Jesus said that whoever the Father gives to him, can not be snatched from his hand.

What is the answer to that?

It also declares that it is Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith and not us.
