does it make you feel secure?

does thinking you have to confess sin to God make you feel secure in your relationship to him. Does it make you feel like you have some control over your relationship in doing so? Just curious as even the Catholics didnt do this until 1212 ad.

For me confessing my sins to GOD solidifies the fact that I do have a relationship with HIM....Why else would we do it? Im not sure about the control part except that it means the I have a choice to believe or not..I do believe and there is no dought in my mind I feel HIS love when Im praying......Awesome!..GBY

if confession of sin is important to God, why after Jesus was glorified on the cross are there only 2 scriptures that could suggest confession of sin for a born again believer. James 5 is one and that is talking about confession of faults with christian brothers.

The one that stands alone is 1 Jn 1:9 and there is strong evidence to believe that is not talking to Christians.

It does however speak of repentence, which is what I believe Christians are called to do instead confession.
