was the Prodigal ever not a ""?

This is in response to the Ray Boltz coming out and proclaiming he is gay.

The Prodigal totally disgraced his father when he asked for his portion of his inheritance and went out and spent it on wild women and drunkenness.

The question would be regarding him was he no longer a based on his actions. We as Christians are saved by grace and not by works or performance.

The word of God says that it is God's goodness and kindness that brings us to repentance.

The prodigal got to such a bad way that he started thinking about how his father treated the servants that he had on their property. He realized that his father treated those servants with goodness and kindness and that if he could but live as a servant on his fathers property that it would be much better than his life was now.

So he goes back, with intentions of asking forgiveness and living as a servant. What happens? His father, whoom he had disgraced just as we as Christians disgrace our heavenly father...did what? He ran to his ! Is this the actions of someone disgraced? No its the actions of a father that loves his and cant wait to embrace him.

The asks forgiveness and says he has sinned against heaven and against his father. What does the father say? Ok I forgive you but do not let this happen again?

He doesn't even address it because the father is just like our heavenly Father. He is about the relationship. Instead he says get a ring and a robe! Kill the fatted calf and lets celebrate.

His who was gone and out of fellowship was now home.

Then there was the issue of the brother. He was upset because he was a rule keeper. He represents us when we can not understand how God's heart works because we are too busy making sure in our minds that we are toeing a line.

Problem is we miss out on God's heart. His heart was how much he loved that who had wandered. If we were sons and daughters that really wanted to know our Fathers heart, we would understand his turmoil and the desire of regained fellowship with that prodigal .

Ray Boltz may be a prodigal right now, but he still is God's . As fellow siblings we can say well he never was a brother, or he lost his -ship...or we can pray for restoration and deliverance from the bad decisions he has made, just like that prodigal in the parable.

Think About it.

Claudia, I know that the legalism of the SDA teaches you legalism. How do you know that the people spoken of by Christ were ever saved? Youi dont. But you are presuming. One thing lost in what you are presuming is Christianity does not begin until after Christ gave atonement.

Christ was fulfilling the law. Law that is also done away with as proclaimed in Hebrews 8:13 and in Hebrews 7. There are other places. On the heart of the believer moral law is written. Peter said the law was not given to the gentiles at all.

How about this? Jesus also said that no one that the Father had given him could be snatched from his hand. No one. It also says that Jesus Christ is the AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith. We arent. We cant.

Its not by might, not by power but by my spir
it says the Lord.

Thank You, and I think we could all honestly look into our own lives and see shortcoming we wish we could change, or should. We all have rebellions, just different degrees,

Thanks Alan, I think the Prodigal Son is the clearest view of the Gospel of Christ in the whole bible.

Prodigal is not a biblical word but a man made word. In Luke 15, Jesus talks about the lost sheep who are not in his fold. Then he goes out and searches for that lost son. The one he is calling into the fold. The next parable is along the same lines.....searching for the lost coin. All men are created by God but all are lost until Jesus calls them, seeks them out and then they hear that call and respond...in effect they come to their senses. The word backslider is not in the new testament. Satan was a son of God...where is he now?

When one denies Gods word he is anti christ...Jesus forbids the practice of the gay lifestyle. This man not only practices it but is condoning it and teaching others that it is ok. He was a secret Gay person all along. What does the bible say? A person born of God does not live a lifestyle of sin. He may sin but he will not stay in sin nor justify sin as God keeps him by his Holy Spirit which dwells in him. Jesus does not live in the gay lifgestyle!!! A Christian cannot live in sin if he is truly born of God. Many will say on that day, Lord, Lord, and Jesus will say...I NEVER KNEW YOU.

Matt 13:25-30 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

Kim, Christianity has not even started until Christ Gives atonement

Christianity is not does and donts. It is about relationship with God. Every one of us has areas of rebellion. That wwould disqualify anyone according to you.

Man looks on the outward appearance (how things look or seem) but God looks at the heart and judges accordingly. Only God knows what's in a man's heart. Only He knows what's in this man's heart. Only He can judge!

Lord, keep one hand on my shoulder and one hand over my mouth!

I would say that sin is in that guys heart.....it is one thing to be tempted or have a weakness but to condone the sin and justify it and teach it to others that it is ok and Jesus excepts it ...not saved...bottom line. This guy retired for Christian music and went gay....from his site. He even admits that secretly he was always a gay person.

A few years ago I made the decision to retire from contemporary Christian music. I had won awards, performed in front of thousands of people, and sold millions of records. Still, I believed that if people knew who I really was, I would never be accepted. During the last few years I've learned that there are many people who feel the same way I did. One church in particular has helped me in many ways. The Metropolitan Community Church was started forty years ago by Rev. Troy Perry in the Los Angeles area and has an outreach to the LGTB (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community. I am happy to announce that I have accepted an invitation to perform at two of their churches. On September 14th, I will be singing at the Jesus Metropolitan Community Church in Indianapolis at 6:00p.m. On September 21st, I'll be singing at the Metropolitan Community Church of Washington, D.C.

Kim, cant we all admit that there are things we just do not know. No ones "doctrine" is perfect. For almost 1900 years after Christ rose from the dead, the vast majority could not even read. Most went by the moral law that God placed on the believers hearts in the New Covenant. Is what he is chosing wrong? Absolutely. So as with the Prodigal son. That is exactly why I point to that Fathers reaction.

The Prodigal son was drawn back to his father because of his kindness. He wasnt dislodged from that family. He was however in rebellion willfully. We all do it from time to time. It may just not be as easy to see as Ray Boltz.

I believe he has always been saved. I also believe he has a huge struggle going on.

But ultimately that is why we are called to pray for each other.

taken from a blog

If I had to pick one book that has really challenged and changed me within the last year, it would have to be Dan Stone’s The Rest of the Gospel.

It’s a small book from a small publishing house by an unknown author, but it is a masterpiece. Nothing more. Nothing less. I have just given away my only copy of it to a friend of mine who wants to know more about who he is in Christ, but I intend to buy a bunch of them and have them to give to people who truly want to know the truth about how life in Christ looks like.

Here are just a few quotes from the book. May they challenge you, maybe make you buy the book and read more (?), and may the Holy Spirit show you more of who you are in Christ if you’re already a believer. If you’re not a believer, I would still encourage you to read the book and get a taste of the life and freedom that Jesus Christ has bought for his children.

“You are not waiting to become holy and blameless and beyond reproach (Colossians 1:22). God sees you as holy and blameless and beyond reproach before him right now. When he looks at you, he sees the nature of his son. He sees you as love. He sees you as joy. He sees you as peace. He sees you as righteous. He sees you as redeemed. He sees you as justified. He sees you as perfect. He sees you complete” (page 103)

“It is an affront to God to keep talking about how unworthy we are. It’s a statement of unbelief. “I really don’t believe what God says about me; I believe what I think about me”. We’re never going to anywhere that way. It isn’t being humble. It’s a false humility. It’s the teaching of tradition and the flesh, because it appears humble.

What’s truly humble is agreeing with what God says about you. Nothing more. Nothing less. We are the righteousness of God (2. Corinthians 5:21). We don’t look it all the time. We don’t feel it all the time. We don’t think it all the time. But we are” (page 104)

“Any activity that’s giving you your identity is an idol and is only contributing to the false self. Our false self thinks it needs external things or activities to give it life. It wants the stroking, the external affirmation, the place of authority, or the the public place to make pronouncements. We are dangerous living out of our flesh, because we’re using others to validate us. But when we no longer need those externals - when we are in Christ and who he is has become foundational truth in our life - then we can handle externals, because we don’t need them for our identity. God will take us through situations again and again to bring us to the place where he is our total life, where we are living out of our true identity. Once we are, he can give us back the external things” (page 107)

“Even if we’re messing up, we’re not a liability, because he’s (God) going to use it somehow in our life or in somebody else’s life, or both” (page 111)

“This is why we have to fail (in our attempts to please God through with our religious activities). God couldn’t be God and let us succeed in the flesh, or we would never know Spirit life. We have the Spirit - we do contain the living God - but if we don’t live out of him in our daily experience it’s like we don’t have him in us at all. Our failures at living the Christian life press us into knowing him as our life” (page 123)

Amen, brother!

Torben

The bible is very clear on what is sin and what will send one to hell. If the bible says it then we KNOW ABOUT IT and to turn a blind eye in itself is sin.

Reprobate is used to translate the originate Greek word of the New Testament, pronounced, ad-ock-ee-mos, meaning rejected i.e. those who reject the Word of God will be rejected by God's Word in due time, as made plain by the Word of God (John 1:1,14), Jesus Christ He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings has a judge; the Word that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day. John 12:48

Rebrobates hold the truth in unrighteousness.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the Truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the Truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
