Our town is dull. There seems to be no pride here. I would campain for our council to work on the footpaths and gardens and make our town more appealing. I would also change council rules to allow former divers to use the springboards in our local pool. I would love to see the council adopt a diving school where the youth in this town could train and learn how to dive. The councils here in Australia are pulling out playgrounds and all the fun as they don't want to be liable for damages, sad but true. In a country place like here where there are no picnic spots or beaches there is very little to do, and now the council doesn't give a hoot! Ah well such is life!

I'd prefer to bring the culture of Boston to Tampa. I had a really hard time adapting when I got here. Even now..I'm not assimilated..I'm tolerant. LOL
I do realize that one culture is not necesarily better than the other..it's all in perspective. The one I grew up in is just more comfortable to me. I just don't understand slow..slow
S L O W for apparrently no reason.

I'd just like a grocery store! I'm out in the country....there's an itty bitty little store with dusty cans and a few odds and ends...and, oh, a Dollar Store. But I wanna Publix...or Albertson's!

How about a superwalmart? Deena? Are you out by Sorrento?, or out towards Osteen?

I can't complain too much these days. We have a brand new Wal-Mart Supercenter just up the road from us. Life is good!

I'm in Sorrento, off Hwy 44 between Eustis and Deland. Mount Dora has a Walmart....a bit of a drive though. When I bought my house in a new subdivision there was a parcel of land outside the gates set aside for a grocery store...we were told it would be a Publix; that was more than 3 years ago. Now I hear there are plans instead for a strip mall anchored by a CVS. I just want to be able to go get groceries at a more convenient time than having to get them on the way home from work, while I'm in town, after a 12 hour day. If I forget something, I'm stuck. A developer several times has laid out plans for a nice cobblestone walk town center with a nice grocery store, nice facades on the stores etc. But each time, the locals (some of whom own the dinky dusty store...I buy nothing there) vote it down saying it doesn't fit in with the country feel of the town...they want no progress, and it shows. Usually they have these meetings without the larger population knowing about them or at times when most of us are at work. I know many folks that would love to have a little convenience out here while at the same time preserving the rural ambience...I think we can do both.

wow Deena, I thought you were in oviedo. Still about the same distance from me. I do some work off of 535 outside of Apopka and i take 46 to Sorrento to cut across. I live right off of exit 114, the last Deltona exit.

I take that road to work...I work in Apopka. I take 535 (or is it 435?) from 46, to Rock Springs Road in Apopka then take a few back roads over to 436 where I work.
