are some parts of the bible obsolete?

By this I mean, all scriptures in the word of God have a purpose in their writing and being, but are some parts of the bible obsolete in our relationship to God now?

Hi Indy, the reason we have a muddied concept today is that people want to mix New Wine in Old Wineskins and that is not the real Gospel. Mixing defunct law with the present Grace does not come up with a real Gospel. You must be mad at some man to bring up circumcisom LOL

I agree with Middy1 and as for circumcision, it is still practiced today, but perhaps not for the same reasons as in the OT.

Circumcision is not a Christian practice. The world does it for medical reasons and the Jews still do it.

There is much that is different, because of what Jesus did. Does John 3:16 really pertain to you if you have received Christ? No, because it is something that you have already done.

Dennis, sorry to hear that you think that, I must be mad at some man to bring up circumcisio, I assure you that you are wrong in your assuption. The reason that I mentioned circumcision is becouse of what you wrote about people wanting to mix New Wine in Old Wineskins, it reminded me of Abraham getting circumcised as a covenant with God, "This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants afrer you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised, and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and you." Genesis 17:10-11. That is why Jewish parents circumcise their male children. In the new covenant that we have in Jesus they would no longer have to circumcise their children to have a covenant whith God, therefore, that part of biblical scripture is obsolete in my opinion. If you want to read about what the new testament says about this subject, may I suggest the book of Romans and/or Corinthians 1.

Life is an adventure.
