How Christian is Christian ’s Fund?

The Use of the Word ‘Christian’ by Christian ’s Fund is Misleading

The issue:
Christian ’s Fund use of the word “Christian” in its name and its aggressive marketing to Christians may be
misleading many Christian donors. Therefore, MinistryWatch cautions donors to prayerfully consider utilizing
other, unmistakably Christian sponsorship ministries, such as Compassion International, that will achieve the
donor’s objective of helping in need of both physical assistance and Christian teaching.

MinistryWatch Take:

MinistryWatch believes donors are entitled to make an educated and knowledgeable giving decision based on all
the facts about a ministry.

Regarding CCF, donors should know:

• CCF, by its own admission, is “non-sectarian” and does not adhere to an Evangelical Statement of Faith or Doctrinal Statement.

• While CCF was founded by a minister in 1938 and continues to do good work on the behalf of impoverished ,
they are not an organization that attempts to bring the Gospel message along with the relief they offer to needy .

• CCF, has in the past, argued it is not Christian so that it could avoid placement in the MinistryWatch database.
More recently, it has argued that it is indeed a Christian organization because of the good works they do for .

• CCF is not a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. In explaining why, CCF has explained,

…“we are not an evangelical organization in that we do not teach religion as part of our program activity and we do not try to convert program beneficiaries as part of our program efforts.”

• CCF’s work is more appropriately described as community development. Fundraising techniques leave the impression
that the money donated is going directly to the sponsored but the reality is that the money is spent on an entire community, which benefits the tangentially.

Some Christians will be concerned with CCF’s partnering with “traditional healers” in third world nations as donors would not want their donations in any way supporting what many believe to be occult practices.

• CCF employees need not be Christian, further indicating that fulfilling the Great Commission is clearly not a priority of CCF. The organizations that CCF works with overseas to meet ’s needs also may have no Christian
orientation.

• CCF’s TV and press fundraising ads often portray images of that are designed to provoke an emotional giving response rather than a thoughtful, prayerful one.

In light of these facts, MinistryWatch recommends that donors to CCF strongly consider redirecting their giving to one of the many ministries that can be found in our MinistryWatch database which pursue both good
works and the spreading of the gospel message.

A ministry should not be judged to be Christian simply based on its good works. If this were the case, CCF, the Red Cross and the United Way, indeed most nonprofits, might all be labeled
Christian.

A truly Christian ministry will have as part of its goals the desire to bring those that they serve into a relationship with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Alternative Christian sponsorship groups like Compassion International are available to Christian donors that desire to bring both spiritual and physical assistance to
around the world in dire need of both. 􀁆

Skystar

Moderates have no real stage.

These people misrepresent themselves GREATLY. Where in the world do you get hate in this article. There is nothing in there hateful. Ministry Watch is dedicated to seeing who is above board in what they are doing.

No you are wrong. What did Jesus do regarding the Priests and the MoneyChangers? A lot more than what these people just said.

He did however say there would be a day when people had done things in his name that were not believers that he never knew them.

Conservatives and ultra conservates best represent who God is. What he taught.

Moderation to me is a bad word. It means people do not know what they believe...thats my political realm.

I can use the word balance but I dont think balance and moderation are the same thing.

I not only know what I believe, but I know why I believe it. I am sorry you see this as abrasive. There are 5000 cults in America. Many of them pretending to be Christian. Many are Christian that are allow junk. I study this stuff alot. Thats why I do not back down. I dont mean to offend you. I think you are a nice lady.

My world is black and white. I am just not a grey person. bUt you can ask my friends...who is loyal.

see4 you label someone when you dont understand conservativeism. Conservatism is not extremism. To me claiming being moderate says..I can be had. I will compromise. To me it is full of relativism whidch is not a good thing.

Now doing things in moderation, from a base of where you know what you believe is a good thing.

I will give you a prime example of what I am talking about.

Purpose driven life. It is very unscriptural and takes many half truths and scriptures out of context. This man, Warren embraces other religions and incorporates paganistic meditation practices. Instead of researching him, many Pastors just jumped right into the 40 day debackle.

Many of them I have read saying, well I know there is some weird stuff in there but I just try and take from the good.

What did Jesus say from about the leaven and the bread.

and you came here andpreached hatred for a group, that their reason for existance is to allow people to be aware of organization misleading people about who tey really are. You called them haters.

Do you have any idea how many groups out there take money in for children under the guise of being Christian and keep most of the money? The Christian Childrens fund does not proclaim the Gospel.

The whole intent here was for people to know about it and they are shown an alternative to one that does. Good for them as they should.

We are called to be good stewards in life.

Here is your statement
.

Ultra Conservatives live in the dark ages! Moderation... the bible teaches us to be balanced and not to hate one another... love one another... agree to disagree... evolve!

Here is my answer. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tommorrow. God doesnt change and nether does his word evolve.

You called a group that is protecting the interests and finances of fellow Christians ultra-conservatives because they have standards and expose people who misrepresent themselves under the guise of being a Christian organization, when it is an organization that does not preach the Gospel, yet uses his name. How do you morally come to this conclusion?

You think its ok to lie?

Nah, YOU labeled a group that you know nothing about. That is there job. They let people know which groups have integrity. Integrity matters.

Being strict does not mean conservatism. I do not think you have the right concept of what that is.
