Do You believe in Remarriage?

I was recently involved in a discussion on a blog where a woman had written how she had left an adulterous marriage. Nah, not exactly what you are thinking.

She left because she felt she did not line up with God's word on a reason to divorce or remarry. So she left a marriage she had entered into, that was a good marriage and he also was a Christian because she felt it to be adultery.

So now in her proclamations, she is making others feel bad about remarrying.

It says the letter of the Law Kills. Really lost in all of this is why was a law given in the first place? It was given because Jewish men need only repeat 3 times publicly that "I divorce You" and that was enough for the divorce to take place. It was much more rampant then than anything we see today.

1 Tim 1:9 says that the law was only given in the first place for the unrighteous.

In our New Covenant of Grace, our lives are to be lead by the Spirit and not by the law which was done away with on the cross.(Hebrews 8:13)

But God has replaced the law in the believers with right and wrong written on our hearts. Jer 31:31-34. He has called us to peace. We know what we should or shouldn't do.

But, he will not ask us to break a new covenant of marriage because everything did not line up to a law that was only given to the Jewish people in the first place.

He hates divorce, not because of some silly law, but rather because of what it does to the people he so dearly loves.
