Don`t ya just hate it when..... Hi there Friends n Visitors, As the headin says, Don`t ya hate it when a right clever dick trys t belittle ya coz u don`t know it all. I`ve never pretended to know much at all about The Bible n made no secret of it. Tday at church (yeah, at church) i was cornered (is the best way t discribe it) by a woman who said that i shouldn`t be askin questions to the minister about certain parts of The Bible, i should go home n read it myself. "You`ll never know anything if you ask others" she said. Blummin cheek. I don`t feel it wrong in the slightest t ask questions be it to the minister, my house group members or in deed you folks on here. I think that it takes other peoples point of views t make ya see something you`ve never seen in The Bible before or t think about it from another perspective. Gracious me, If i couldn`t ask questions i think i`d give up totally on life and Christianity. In fact i`m gonna ask one now, Why is it said that when The Lord comes to take us home He`ll take the livin and the dead. Surely the dead r already there aren`t they,(the true believers anyway. Wendy, just because this lady told you "you shouldn't" doesn't mean that you "shouldn't". The disciples asked questions to Jesus. Besides, it was none of her business anyway!  GBY! LYS! May God Bless You in ABUNDANCE

I would say that BOTH reading the Bible for yourself AND asking other people about things you don't understand are essential for a fuller understanding. Don't let the bullies put you down Wendy. Keep asking and keep loving those who think it is their business to tell you what to do. By the way, I agree with Jean's answer to your question. I assume you are reading Thessalonians. Question: Define "right clever dick" for us Americans here. Sorry, couldn't resist. At first I thought = man .... but then I said, "No, she said woman". Then I thought = detective .... but then I said, "No, that couldn't be it. Just trying to figure out that phrase. Don't get mad at me for asking the question. he, he, he....
