Profile for oseshalom
"I was a fundamentalist Christian once." Love Yeshua, and the beauty of faith traditions, but have t // I once spent 3 weeks after 9/11 traipsing around Israel by myself. Including several visits to the wailing wall and a swim in the Sea of Galilee. I have taken trips to Kansas City and New York City all by myself, just to attend a prayer meeting. I am not the kind of per who waits around for someone else to be interested in something before I do it. I also usually have an eye for what I want, and am very rarely satisfied with anything else. My faith is very important to me, but I tend to be not very conventional in that respect. The most important thing is believing in Yeshua (Jesus) as Messiah. Prayer and reading the word are also important. I also love keeping Jewish holidays (including the Shabbat).. not because I feel it a duty, but because there is much beauty and blessing in keeping them. However, I see beauty in many kinds of Christian spirituality. I would enjoy a Protestant Retreat at a campground or resort, or a Catholic retreat at an abbey, or a weeklong camp outing at Sukkot, a Latin Tridentine Mass, or a Torah study. I really hate debate or conflict over spiritual matters, but am more interested in talking about spiritual books and ideas in uplifting ways. I enjoy some of the more academic discussions of spiritual philosophy as well, such as the writings of some of the early mystics or Heschel. I love to sing, especially worship, and also have a real love for singing in Hebrew... chants, prayers, gs, Torah, etc. I'm Messianic..which is kind of hard to explain, but easiest described as a mixture of Christian and Jewish beliefs. I am usually quiet, but intense. I am approachable and easy to talk to and am a great listener. I see humor easily, and love to laugh. I really enjoy my job, as it gives me an opportunity to encourage people by letting them know the good I see in them and what they are capable of. I also have some great coworkers who are very positive. I see that this has such a positive impact on those around them, and I try to follow their example. Surprisingly, I also have more mundane interests. I am a huge football fan. I'm an ND grad and love the Irish, and really enjoy the NFL thing, too. I also (believe it or not) am really fascinated by Texas Hold 'Em poker and spend a lot of time (NOT $) playing online, and have read several books on the subject. I like Gilmore Girls, Everwood, and House. I like really good movies (which are hard to find these days). I like inspirational books, and all kinds of music, but mostly worship. My favorite color is green, and I mostly look at shopping as a chore. I like learning about different cultures and know a smattering of phrases in a few languages including Spanish, German, and Hebrew (but am not really fluent in any).

My Ideal Person
The thing that I appreciate most in a partner is someone who is interested in spiritual issues, and who shares my values and beliefs in this area. I would love to have someone to pray with and to be a partner in serving G-d as He leads.
