Profile for NiceTexasLady
I'm a funny, sensitive and caring person who has found a good mix between the practical and the romantic. I believe God HAS provided an instruction book for getting through life, and I try to apply God's rules instead of society's rules to day-to-day living. I've got a great job, enjoy my work and am considered pretty successful, but God, family and friends have and always will come first with me. I'm a very giving person, and a good listener. I like trying new and different things. I like singing in the choir at church, and have finally built up the courage to sing that solo (my solo debut will be December 8)!

My Ideal Person
Someone who is compassionate and understands that being a Christian is an every day all-the-time thing, not just something for Sundays or public appearances. Honesty is important, as well as the ability to forgive themselves and others. A sense of humor is important, too. (God made the ostrich and the platypus, so he MUST have wanted us to laugh!)

Please describe your faith. How important is your faith to you?
I have been a Christian since I was 12, but drifted pretty far away from church life until about 6 years ago. Moved to a new area, and found a church that just kind of reached out and grabbed me. I try very hard to live every day like a Christian, and to let other people see God's light and love through me.

Which Scripture verses are most important to you?
Gee--how do you just pick out a few? Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. 2 Cor 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee . . . Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Why is a Christian relationship so important to you?
A nice restaurant, church service, an ice cream parlor, a museum

Where did you grow up? Where have you traveled? What are some of your favorite places to visit?
I was born in Denver City, Texas, and moved around a lot as a child. My parents were Christians and very active in church until we moved to a very small town where we couldn't find a church that "fit". Went to school at Texas A&M University, and after leaving school, have lived in Augusta, GA, Mystic, CT, then back to Texas. Used to have a time share at Hilton Head Island, SC. Loved it--just got to far to travel to from Texas. Really enjoyed my visit to Disney World this year (especially Epcot). Thought the Grand Canyon was pretty awesome.

What are your favorite activities both at Church and outside?
Really enjoy singing in the choir. Enjoy listening to CD's or tapes and singing along. Enjoy reading. I teach children's church once a month (and that's about right). I enjoy working logic puzzles. Like going to the beach and concerts. Like playing games with friends (Pinochle, cribbage, scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, etc.) I enjoy cooking. I like collecting things (stamps, teacups and saucers, Mary Engelbreit stuff, . . . )

What is your day like? Describe your daily routine.
I'm a technical training supervisor at a nuclear power plant. I live about an hour away from work, so don't have a lot of "free" time. Most of the free time I have, I try to spend with my 16-year old son. He's a terrific kid, and spending time with him is really a pleasure.

What are some of your personal and spiritual goals?
To see my son grow up to be a happy adult and a strong Christian. To live my life so that others can tell that I'm a Christian, and that there is something wonderful and inviting about being a Christian--to draw people to God. To make a difference in other people's lives.
