Please describe your faith. How important is your faith to you?
I have had an on again/off again relationship with God for a long time. But in the past year we have been bonding again. This is in large part due to me taking on the high school students in my church. Because I seek to demonstrate my faith in my day to day life for my youth, I have found God present more than I used to be aware of.
Which Scripture verses are most important to you?
The story of Hagar in Genesis is the most influential scripture lesson in my faith journey. Whenever I doubt the strength of God's covenant with me I seek comfort in the knowledge that God protected Hagar and he will protect me.
Why is a Christian relationship so important to you?
I am not some major Jesus freak quoting scripture and I forget to say grace a lot of the time. But whatever is good in my life, I know that is a gift from God. And whatever is wrong in my life I know is an opportunity to demonstrate God's grace. I want to share my life with a man that appreciates these values, will remind me of my faith when I forget and recognizes the value of being a child of God.
Where did you grow up? Where have you traveled? What are some of your favorite places to visit?
We moved a lot when I was growing up so I lived in Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin and Indiana. I am originally from Chicago and my family has congregated back to the area. But I love mid-Michigan and so I chose to stay here by myself with a family of friends to share my life with.
I have not traveled anywhere exciting. I have been to 44 of 50 United States. That's about it. I hope to travel to Rome and Sweden some day and I would love to see the birthplace of the major religions of the world.
What are your favorite activities both at Church and outside?
I love my "kids" at church! I go to a small town church with old fashioned ice cream socials and bazaars. I play bells in the choir - love to entertain the congregation. I enjoy doing lay leadership as well.
I have a lot of energy so I like doing all kinds of things. I really enjoy community service so I like doing charity walks and clean up days. I like to include my dog whenever possible in my activities.
What is your day like? Describe your daily routine.
My day to day is not that exciting. I work full time. I come home and talk on the phone or surf the net. I put together programs for the church youth or for work. Sometimes I do some contractor work in fund raising. I walk the dog and I crash in front of the TV.
What are some of your personal and spiritual goals?
My goals are to have enough professional success so that I can afford to do the things I am passionate about like my volunteer and church work. I would like a little "farm" in the country where I can have rescued animals and room for some adopted or fostered kids to run around, maybe bon fires for the high school youth at church and an annual holiday open house. I believe that I have so many gifts in my life, they should be celebrated and shared.
