Because it starts with one good first date, let's start there. How about a bowl of clam chowder poured from a thermos as we sit on a red checkered blanket under a tree in the middle of field? You got your favorite jeans on and I got a little cold, so you gave me your LL Bean jacket. Let's keep it simple. And we can talk about God, Country and how good our moms' apple pies were. My mom's were the best!
There isn't much traditional routine in my life and I seem to find fun in most things I do. I own a 1989 Jeep with over 320,000 miles. Yes, I'm frugal. As a writer, I'm not making much of a living, so I supplement my income by being a landlord. A nice one.
I like refinishing old furniture. Fixing things that are broken, like sewing machines and garbage disposals(skills developed as a landlord), and the challenge of rewiring an old house. (I'm not an electrician) I hate playing golf, wearing high-heels, and listening to Jazz. I'm independent, self-reliant and carry very little of yesterday's baggage forward. The past is just that. And the past was good.
I love to travel. I've been to Europe, South America, and to Nepal to hike to Mt Everest Base Camp. I'm not going to the top. Learning knew things and seeing new places are important to me. Conclusion: I'm physically fit and active.
Where I live is very important to me. The warmer, the better, but I like diverse environments. So I live on the Big Island of Hawaii. If you live here that would be great.
My Ideal Person:
I’m looking for a man who wants a serious relationship with a God-loving woman. I like a man with a talented mind, down to earth goodness and enjoys getting his hands dirty, kind of like a PhD who enjoys painting houses. He wouldn’t think twice about stopping to take a turtle out of the road, but wouldn’t intentionally run over a snake.
He must be physically fit with a good energy level. He believes in the constitution, free-market enterprise and cringes when he pays his taxes, but doesn’t think twice about tithing.
He is a happy man, grateful for what he has, appreciative of what God has given him and willing to share life with someone who values exploring a quiet cove on a lake, delving into a damp cave, or climbing a mountain just to hear the wind or the song of a bird.
He keeps life simple, brings no drama to the table. A date could be getting up in the middle of the night to watch an eclipse of the moon, then going out for breakfast before going off to work. Or tromping through an old barn to find the right light to take a photograph. Or an old movie, dinner and a good night kiss. A need to discover is a requirement. A need for a thrill is not.
He has no desperate need to rush into anything, but realizes life has no guarantees except what God promises to a Christian. So it is better to share all things great and small with someone special.
