Hi and thanks for taking the time to read this. I moved to central Florida almost 4 years ago to take a position as a houseparent in a Christian children's home. I love my work, but don't have much opportunity to meet singles in my age group - who are also Christians. I have varied interests and am eager to develop new ones. I'm a big kid at heart and enjoy the Orlando attractions probably as much as the kids do. I also really enjoy any church related activities and get involved as much as I can. Christianity is my life - not a title I wear or something I do on Sundays. I am very much involved in church and enjoy being a servant of the Lord whenever I can. I believe the Bible holds all we need to know to live our lives and I try my best to follow its teachings. Thanks again for your time and, if you are interested in talking, drop me a line.
My Ideal Person:
First and foremost this person must be devoted to God before me or anyone else. This means, of course, studying and following the Bible - not the word of man. I enjoy being around people who are Christ-centered in their every day life. I would like someone who would enjoy doing fun things together (Disney, Universal, etc.), as well as just enjoying a quiet moment sitting on the beach, or watching a movie. I would like someone to be next to me during church services, with his arm around my shoulder, and know he is there because he loves the Lord as much as I do.
Favorite television shows:
Survivor, The Apprentice, Top Chef, Biggest Loser, America's
Got Talent
Favorite films:
Facing the Giants, The Nativity Story, Sixth Sense
Favorite musicians or bands:
Alabama, Eagles, Smokey Robinson, Elvis....

Please describe your faith. How important is your faith to you?
My faith is my life. I will not live by man made doctrine or tradition, but by the Bible alone. There is a remnant of the church that Christ established and it is to His church I belong - not one established by man or on man-made doctrine. We "search the scriptures daily," in an effort to live according to God's word. "Speak where the Bible speaks. Keep silent where the Bible keeps silent," is our motto. The Bible is our "Standard Operating Procedure Manual," God is our "CEO," and our "corporate offices" are in heaven.
Which Scripture verses are most important to you?
So many good ones, but here are 2 of my favorites.
1Pe 3:15 but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason of the hope in you, with meekness and fear;
Rev 22:18 For I testify together to everyone who hears the Words of the prophecy of this Book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add on him the plagues that have been written in this Book.
Rev 22:19 And if anyone takes away from the Words of the Book of this prophecy, God will take away his part out of the Book of Life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which have been written in this Book.
Why is a Christian relationship so important to you?
First - I do not want to live this life with someone I will not see when I get to heaven. Second - If I am in a relationship with someone who does not have the conviction I have, one of us must give in to the other and I will not give up my place in heaven for anyone. Third - If 2 people both believe and live by the Bible, the relationship has to be much more stable and both will grow in the Lord. Last - but certainly not least - because God commands it.
Where did you grow up? Where have you traveled? What are some of your favorite places to visit?
I was born and raised i Prattville, Alabama. I have lived in Ft. Lauderdale, FL; LaFayette, LA; Little Rock, AR; and now in Mt. Dora, FL. My travels have been very limited. I have been to several places in Tennessee, Georgia, and Mississippi and have visited my brother in Albuquerque. I have been to Houston and a couple of smaller places in Texas and that's about it. I would love to do more traveling in the US one of these days.
What are your favorite activities both at Church and outside?
I love church! I enjoy worship services and Bible study and teaching ladies' Bible study. We have pot lucks the first Sunday of every month and that fellowship is great. We sometimes have family game nights and "Senior Saints" outings and friends and family days at the Bible camp. Outside church, I love to get with friends for cookouts, board or card games, or just sitting around chatting or watching a movie. I also love to go to the Orlando attractions like Disney, Universal, and Sea World, and would love to visit more of them.
What is your day like? Describe your daily routine.
Routine? What Routine? We have 3 cottages of kids and I spend 7 days a month in each of them. (I am the relief houseparent.) One cottage is teenage girls, one is teenage boys, and the other is younger siblings (ages 3 - 10). How my day goes depends on which cottage I am in, but I guess the basics are the same. Get up, get a shower, wake the kids, feed them breakfast, get them off to school (at least we are on the campus and they can walk), clear away from breakfast, check bedrooms again and pick up anything left out of order, tidy living area, do laundry for younger ones, attend meetings on some days, take kids to Dr. appointments, do any reports that are due, plan dinner, help with homework, make dinner, help with after dinner chores and clean up, settle kids down for a little TV, night time devotion, send kids to bed. Get up and start it all over again.
What are some of your personal and spiritual goals?
At the end of this life I would really love to know that I had just a little something to do with one person finding his/her way to God. Then if anyone ever said of me, "She is a woman after God's own heart," I would be absolutely ecstatic.
