Profile for mjhisbeloved
***I'M NOT A PAYING MEMBER, so please IM me or email me at my my YIM name at ya who.***

I love being outdoors and reveling in the beauty of God’s creation. I’ve spent many summers canoeing and camping in Northern Minnesota and Canada and have a taste for adventure. I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty and go without creature comforts like electricity and running water. At the same time, I love to get dressed up, get my hair and nails done, and go to a play or the orchestra, a fancy restaurant, or a fund-raising gala. I enjoy museums, site seeing, and road trips, as well as a civil demonstration for civil rights, poverty, or the environment. I love music and singing (though my voice isn’t exactly trained), and am very “crafty” (I stamp, cross-stitch, crochet, and love to make things).

As you can see, I have quite a wide variety of interests. I love to read and am almost always in the middle of some great book. But I also love a good movie or even a quality TV show. Probably my favorite thing, though, is to spend time with people. I am a classic extrovert and have built a huge network of friends, family and “adopted family” all over the country. People are very important to me and I love to build and maintain relationships and do my best to love and bless those around me. I also love children and animals (especially my cat, Slinky).

One last thing: I'm not really interested in a long-distance relationship through this site. I tried that once and I don't feel that you can really get to know someone you meet online if they don't live near you.

My Ideal Person:
I guess I'll be clear. I'm looking for the love of my life. I'm looking for someone to share my life with, to raise a family with, to worship God with. My "perfect match" is someone who is a strong Christian who sees God as the source of their life, can really carry on a conversation, is romantic, is willing to learn new things, has a somewhat open mind (I work in politics and God takes my life in interesting directions), and has a good sense of humor.

I believe in the Ephesians 5 model of marriage…but I believe in what it says for BOTH men and women (for some reason, many churches have a tendency to focus on the “wives submit” part and ignore the “husbands love” part). I am looking for someone who will cherish me, fight for me, and honor me. And someone I can love, respect, bless, and serve.

Favorite television shows: Law and Order (esp. SVU)

Favorite films: The Story of Us, Notting Hill, The Sound of Music, The Princess Bride, Crash, Bowling for Columbine

Favorite musicians or bands: Sara Groves, Casting Crowns, Third Day, any praise and worship

Please describe your faith. How important is your faith to you?
Jesus is the source of my life and my reason for living. While I intend to do more and more ministry, I believe that the primary call on my life is as an intercessor. I love to pray - by myself and with others, and almost always pray for people I pass on the street, see on the metro, or interact with in stores (on my own, not out loud). I try to seek the Lord in all that I do and follow His will for my life. I'm not perfect by any means...so thank God for grace! But I do want to be better and better...constantly letting Him change me from glory to glory and make me more like Him.

Which Scripture verses are most important to you?
Isaiah 61:3 - I feel this is my life verse. All of Isaiah 62 - this is my "ministry chapter" and describes where I want my ministry to go. Isaiah 55:9-12 - reminds me that His word is faithful Isaiah is a big book for me! lol

Why is a Christian relationship so important to you?
I believe that marriage is forever, and the only way I can make that kind of commitment is if I know we share the same faith. Also, I believe that prayer is ESSENTIAL to a relationship and a family. Therefore, I need a partner who will pray with me to provide covering for our children and our family. To me, my relationship with God is the most important thing in my life. Anyone who doesn't share that just won't understand ME...and won't be able to share my life.

Where did you grow up? Where have you traveled? What are some of your favorite places to visit?
I grew up in Minnesota. I have traveled to many of the US States (though I've never been West of Salt Lake City - yet). I've done a TON of camping in northern Minnesota and Canada. I also went to Haiti when I was 3, but it doesn't count since I barely remember it. I love being outdoors, canoeing and camping...being close to God's creation. I also like to explore big cities (would love to check out New York one of these days). I plan to visit Uganda sometime in the future (I hope soon!) to see my "African Family." I would love to go anywhere in Africa, the Carribean, Europe...really anywhere in the world would be fun to travel to!

What are your favorite activities both at Church and outside?
At church: I am a sign language interpreter, a greeter, and plan to join the children's ministry (probably nursery), and the prayer team. I'm involved in a weekly small group and the 20's and 30's ministry. I love to hang out with my friends from church, go to movies, etc. Outside church...I'm very involved in the disability rights movement (both for work and in my "free" time) and sit on 2 non-profit boards. I enjoy theater, museums, and conferences as well as staying home to watch movies, be "crafty" and hang out with my cats.

What is your day like? Describe your daily routine.
I live 3 blocks from work, so I walk to work in the morning. I get up with just enough time to shower, dress, put on my makeup, feed the cats, and walk to work (45-75 minutes). I generally eat breakfast at work (either buy a bagel at the deli or eat cereal at my desk). I work a typical "9-5" day with a lunch break. After work, I often have meetings or activities or get together with friends (small group, prayer meetings, parties, events, friends in town, errands/shopping, etc.). I generally go home and feed the cats, then head to the metro to go wherever I'm going. Sometimes I don't get home 'till 9:30 or 10 (later on weekends). On days when I don't have meetings after work, I go home, spend time chatting online or on the phone, have dinner (and feed the cats) and either clean or try to be crafty. Weekends are often busy - friends, meetings, etc. Church takes a large part of my day, but it's my favorite time of the week! I LOOOOOVE my church!!! I almost always go out with friends for lunch after church and sometimes we do other things as well (movies, play games, etc.).

What are some of your personal and spiritual goals?
I hope to eventually move into formal ministry to and with people with disabilities. I would like to grow in my walk with God, read and memorize more scripture, and learn more about Him. I'd also like to share my faith more and see more people touched. Personal goals: I'd like to get married, have and adopt some children, buy a house, get out of debt, write and publish several books, and travel.
