I am a summa graduate of Juilliard who left opera for social services when I finally learned that being really good at something doesn't necessarily make it your calling. I was raised Southern Baptist by my parents and my grandfather, who was quite well-known and influential in the denomination. I was brought up between Rock Hill and Pickens, SC and Evergreen, AL, and am now surprised to find how happy and blessed I feel to be living in San Francisco.
Some fun tidbits: Dr. Brohner's peppermint soap and socks fresh from the dryer are little pieces of heaven, as are long brunches with creative eggs and dear friends after church on Sundays. Ideal entertainment is my big fluffy cat named Tadpole who likes to play the piano when he's high on catnip, jounaling/writing short stories, card shopping, fingerpainting, and massage. The closest I can come to visualizing Paradise is Harbin Hotsprings. I have amazing dreams, especially in cold rooms with heavy blankets.
My Ideal Person
I love my church in San Francisco and have been very actively involved for about three years. Our pastor is moving on, and we have had to condem our own building, so faith, prayer, and hope are of optimum importance. I'm in a new job which allows me much more time than I used to have for bonding, writing, friendship, and play, so the more people I can find for holding me accountable to prayer and finding joy (frollic included), the better. Dating for fun is a possibility. I'm not looking for anything serious right now, but I tend to choose men who are intelligent, creative, adventurous, well-spoken, attractive, and can ask interesting and engaging questions of me. It also helps if they have some modicum of political and social awareness and activism. More succinctly stated: Move my mind; you're in. Move my heart; I'm yours.
