Profile for singinglady45
I am a born again Christian woman who would like to get to know some single Christian men. I enjoy music, reading, baking, camping, rollerskating and going to church. My two teenage childre live at home with me.

My Ideal Person
I am looking for a man who knows Jesus Christ as their savior and lord. It would be nice if the person was not judgemental; but was kind and thoughtful Mainly though, I'm interested in someone who wants to follow God's leading.

Please describe your faith. How important is your faith to you?
My faith is very important to me. I believe that I am a sinner. The only reason I am not going to hell is because Christ, the perfect sacrifice, shed his blood for me. God loves me. Because of this I can face what ever the future holds, knowing that ultimately He is in control. I can't imagine going through life not being a Christian. Christ is my anchor. He is the power that helps me live and deal with life.

Which Scripture verses are most important to you?
This is a hard question to answer because so many verses are important to me. The ones about salvation are really important, such as John 3:16, Rom. 3:23, Rom. 6:23, Eph. 2:8,9. I love th eighth chapter of Romans because it tells me that nothing can separate me from Christ's love. Isa. 40:31 is a favorite because it tells me that God will sustain me. I am very fond of Ps. 91. Lately I have been finding other verses that have really been helping me as I continue to go through this adjustment period of not having my husband here,(he's been dead 7 months now). These verses include Jer. 17:5-8, Ps.30:5,Ps. 17:6,7; and especially Ps.143:8 and Prov.31:25.

Why is a Christian relationship so important to you?
The bible says that believers should not be unequally yoked with non believers. If a person is in a relationship with a nonchristian it is probable that there would not be harmony in the relationship. The nonbeliever may want to do things which were not honoring to Christ. The believer would not be built up in his/her faith through the relationship.

Where did you grow up? Where have you traveled? What are some of your favorite places to visit?
I was born and grew up in Ellenville. I have had opportunities to travel around the Eastern U.S. My parents took us camping every summer in a travel trailer when I was young. It was alot of fun. I currently own a motor home. We used to go camping with it as a family with my children. When I was in college I also traveled with the King's College Choir. We went to Florida, the midwest, Canada and New England on choir tour; singing each night. It was great fun. When I was in college I also spent a summer studying at a language institute in France. While over there we visited Paris, Switzerland and Luxembourg. I alos had the opportunity to see alot of the castles in the Loire Valley in France. My favorite places to vacation usually have beaches. I love Cape Cod, Mass. and Sarasota, Fla. I really liked going to France also.

What are your favorite activities both at Church and outside?
My favorite activities at church revolve around music. I love to sing. Lately I have been trying to improve my piano skills because I am currently the pianist at my church. For about 12 years I was involved in the AWANA youth ministry at church, leading singing while playing guitar and helping kids memorize scripture. Outside of church a favorite activity is reading. I always find some time to read a little, even if it is right before bed. I have read the Left Behind series and have a collection of Grace Livingston Hill Christian romance books. Recently I discovered that I still know how to rollerskate and iceskate. I hadn't done it in years; but it all came back to me when I tried to skate. I really like skating and am hoping to get time to go to the new rollerskating rink on Rt. 209 in Accord. I also like growing pumpkins and other vegetables. Some years we have had a garden. It is fun to cut down whole pumpkins, puree them and freeze the puree. I then would make pumpkin pie and bread for the holidays with it. I think it tastes better than canned because it is fresher. We also used to pick strawberries and make jam and can it.

What is your day like? Describe your daily routine.
Mon. through Fri. my daily routine goes like this: 7AM - get up, get my daughter up, get her to school by 8AM or so, either go directly to work or come home and leave for work by 9AM, commute about 40 min. to Middletown or Port Jervis, work 8 hours, drive to Wurtsboro, work out at the gym an hour, get my daughter from my mother in law's house, come home, do a little practicing or housework or go on line, go to bed. Weekends are alot less hectic. I sleep in a little on Sat., then do yard work, house work, etc. Sun. AM I'm in church till around noontime.

What are some of your personal and spiritual goals?
Personal and spiritual goals include continuing to become a more independent person, while in a sense learning to follow God more. For years and years I was very sheltered by my husband. He took care of all the finances and generally was in charge and truly the head of the household. Now that I am a single mother I am in charge. God has been helping me and slowly but surely I am learning to do what I have to do. I would also like to start memorizing scripture again. When my husband was dying I started memorizing scripture. It really helped me to keep things in perspective. Unfortunately if I don't keep working at it and reviewing it I don't remember verses word for word. I would also like to start singing solos in church again once in a while. I think my voice can be a blessing to others, but it is always a little scary to get up there in front of everyone.
