64 year old Woman in Hurst, Texas, United States Looking For: Men

Profile for Pax60
I'm a high school English and journalism teacher who likes to travel (have been to about 25 countries and many states), read, walk my dogs, be involved at my church, do stuff with my family, go to movies now and then, eat out, take walks, and go to New England (especially Maine). I like to do yard work until it gets to 100 degrees (far too soon!), plant flowers, do volunteer work and mission trips, talk about all sorts of topics from the mundane to the magnificent. It sounds strange, but words are sort of my hobby. I like their etymologies, their meanings, their usages, etc. I think words are lovely! One of the most romantic things I can think of would be taking turns reading poetry or short stories or ANYTHING aloud to each other outside on a beautiful day. I like one of the last scenes in "Notting Hill" when the Hugh Grant character and the Julia Roberts character are doing just that. Soooooo romantic! I like to talk. Yes, shocking for a woman, I know! :) But I like to talk about all kinds of things. I like to keep up with current events and talk about them with people, although I must admit I've got news fatigue the last few years, with just too much horrible news to make reading a newspaper any fun. Still, I'm very interested in world events and would love to find someone who keeps up with the world also. I like to talk about theology, and am just now reading More Than a Carpenter by Josh McDowell. It's a sort of apologetic for believing in Jesus as the Christ, and it's thought provoking. I like to talk about arts and literature and just about everything but math, at which i am a total loser. I'm also not above a John Grisham book. I've just spent the weekend reading The Broker, which I've thoroughly enjoyed. I love the whole Mitford series by Jan Karon (sort of a chick book series, although the protagonist is a male Episcopalian priest). And if you haven't read Cry, the Beloved Country, by Alan Paton, you deserve a "D" in classic literature, because it is the most awesome, moving, soul kicking book about racism, God's grace, love, and family that you'll ever read. It's on my Top Five list right up there with To Kill a Mockingbird.

My Ideal Person
Someone who has humility, a sense of humor, flexibility with life and a personal knowledge of God's grace. I would love it it they enjoyed reading, writing, and words, as I do. I would like someone with a kind heart who tries not to have a critical spirit.

I would love to find someone who is willing to laugh at himsel and can make me laugh. I laugh a lot at myself, because I do a lot of goofy things. I think being able to laugh at oneself is critical in this over stressed world. I like to use funny accents and things, and I'm not above silly nicknames for friends and loved ones. (If you're my friend and you don't have a nickname, something's wrong!)

At my age, I'm not looking for fireworks alone. I don't mean that to sound like I'm "settling," but rather, that I crave a deep, satisfying companionship over the highs and lows that are sometimes associated with "romance." On 12/16 my parents reached their 50th anniversary, and having watched them all these years, it was easy to see that sometimes it was a hot romance, sometimes it was a lot of work, and sometimes it was just getting along. But they still call each other terms of endearments and do little things for each other.

\\\*NOTE - I cannot get this site to accept my answers to many of the other essay questions. I'm not being shy or secretive--just can't get the software to work properly. You might keep checking back in, because I was able to get it to accept updates in one area today. Sometimes technology makes me want to become a Luddite!
