I love magic shows... and am an amateur magician myself!
I love to travel to places beautiful, architecturally interesting, as well as of historical signficance because I love history - I've been to places like D.C. Gettysburg, Aushwitz, Moscow's Red Square, Israel, and the Pyramids of Egypt.
I love chocolate... and chocolate covered strawberries
I love gadgets
I am a good listener
I love to laugh and can get into trouble with my wry sense of humor
I keep forever those dear handwritten notes from friends
I love music, music, music: I'm a bit of a throwback b/c I love the 40s-60s music with Sinatra, Como, Ray Charles, Count Basie and the like, as well as people who sing like that today, such as Harry Connick Jr, Michael Buble and Mandy Patinkin. I listen to icons like Streisand, Midler and Manilow, as well as Josh Groban, Elton John, Chris Botti... I adore local jazz great Ida McBeth.
You can't keep me away from KC Chorale concerts.
I ADORE Broadway musicals, and have traveled to NYC and Chicago to see the best
So yes, I sing myself! and play several instruments
I love to listen to music while cooking
I adore Chateau St. Michelle's Riesling
Gardening is fun - I like to sit on my swing porch and look at the colors, hear the birds and watch the clouds go by
I love to cuddle and hold hands with that someone special
I water ski but can't seem to get the hang of snow skiing
I go to museums, Shakespeare in the Park, and stroll the Plaza...
I love my DVR - and watch Survivor and The Amazing Race
I love antique things
I love to roast marshmallows
I do a lot of work with video and photographic editing
I like the sound of crisp silence amidst new fallen snow
I love to play all kinds games: card, board, running charades, but not emotional games
Everything oceans and mountains - I'm all about it!
I watch a lot of movies: from Lord of the Rings, Moulin Rouge, The Matrix to romantic comedies (partial to Meg Ryan) but I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to horror movies or "snakes on a plane"
I adore books and have too many in my home: favorite authors are CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, Lucy M. Montgomery (Anne of Green Gables), Jane Austen, Bruce Alexander, Ted Dekker, and a myriad of Christian authors.
I am organized but not anal about it
I was a HS teacher for 5 years
My friends are the kind that get together for laughs, games, metro area events, concerts, etc. but we don't go to bars.
My Ideal Person:
I am looking for someone with a strong faith in God foremost and similar interests to my own as well as his own... and will challenge and stretch me to grow spiritually and culturally.
He will probably be educated, curious and knowledgeable about the world but doesn't feel he has to be smartest guy in the room;
social, outgoing, creative, communicative, organized, plans for the future, but he also has that spontaneous side that allows us to splurge, or go crazy one weekend; has a good work ethic, but knows how to balance it with friends and family; has passion - we'll be drawn together with that surge of excitement that comes with falling in love - and keep it fresh with trying new things and seek not to take one another for granted; he's honest, independent, of strong character and beliefs, a great sense of humor, trusting and loving- he celebrates life!
