Please describe your faith. How important is your faith to you?
My faith in God is more important than I can describe. I had terminal cancer at one time. The doctors were stunned when it disappeared---after my church decided to pray about it. And that's just one instance of God taking me through the fire. I've got a bunch of 'em. And I don't believe in God just because it makes me feel good. I believe because I have explored history, studied Greek, looked at the fulfilled prophecies, etc., and God, and His inspired Word are logical choices.
Which Scripture verses are most important to you?
I Corinthians 13(I bet you hadn't guessed that one, huh?) because it breaks things down to what's really important, and does it in a chapter that's beautiful to read.
The whole book of Hebrews, especially chapters 11 and 12 because when I think I'm going through a rough time, I can just read that and things shift right back into perspective. Plus I love the Greek phrasing of the first couple verses of chapter 12 where it talks about the things that can so easily entangle us. The Greek runners had to watch out that their feet didn't get wrapped up or tripped up by things in the path, and that's the phrasing used there.
Why is a Christian relationship so important to you?
Number one--The Bible says not to be unequally yoked.
Number two--A Christian and a non-Christian just don't have the same goals/desires.
Where did you grow up? Where have you traveled? What are some of your favorite places to visit?
I spent part of my childhood in Portland, Oregon. From 11 years old until 19 I lived in Milwaukie, Oregon.
I have traveled all over Oregon, of course. I've been to California, Texas, Idaho, Utah and Colorado. That's about it.
I don't have a favorite place to visit. I just like to travel.
What are your favorite activities both at Church and outside?
Outside church I like to visit with my kids, play with my grandson, play with my animals(cats and a dog),embroider, crochet, carve wood, design and build furniture, other carpentry projects--like the grape arbor my daughter and I built last year, sculpt, paint(acrylics),design and sew handbags and diaper bags, garden, play the piano, keyboard, recorder, congas, and bake bread.
Inside church I like to sing in the choir, the women's trio, play in the worship team band, the church orchestra, help on the committee that makes gifts to welcome new members, and I am a volunteer in the prison ministry.
What is your day like? Describe your daily routine.
It really varies from day to day, but if the sun shines, I'm usually outside at least part of the day, gardening. I practice my music. Go to a Bible study at the church. Walk the dog. Etc. To relax, I usually paint. Then every night I pray and read my Bible.
What are some of your personal and spiritual goals?
To keep learning. To make God smile.
