God's given me a positive outlook on life, and a good sense of humor. I enjoy small talk as well as sharing the depths of who we are, and Whose we are. I write a lot, mostly poetry and observations on life. I like woodworking and music. Past middle and high school students remember me as a rather unorthodox teacher, but, well... life just doesn't fit in a syllabus.
My Ideal Person:
I was looking for that special woman to share my life's journey with, and, by the grace of God, we found each other here on BC. It didn't happen right away... God gave me time to make some friends here first, time to share thoughts and feelings on this transitional period many of us have found ourselves in. I guess I've kind of... not rediscovered myself, because I've never been this self before... but yes, discovering who I am... my strengths and weaknesses; my hopes and fears. I've grown with others in the faith that God will see us through this in His time... and in my case that timing has brought me to the verge of moving to Virginia this summer, to find a house and marry a lady who is more than I could have hoped for or imagined! So to you who are searching, my suggestion is prayer, faith and patience... but also taking risks in communicating openly with others (selectively) and accepting whatever response you get. You will never be lessened by someone's response to you, if you know your own worth in God's eyes (precious, immeasurable). And you may, by your honesty and openness, give someone else permission to express what they've only thought up to now. God be with you.

Please describe your faith. How important is your faith to you?
I asked Jesus into my life at age 27, and I know very well the difference between life without him and life with him. He is Life, and he is my life. That's not to say I don't get headstrong sometimes, but that gives him something to laugh about, and eventually, I have to laugh, too. God is always here and now. I talk to Him a lot, sometimes He responds. I often feel close to God, but then there are times when, in this darkened room in which we live, he puts his hand on my shoulder.
Which Scripture verses are most important to you?
"....but I will not forget you, Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands..." Is 49:14-17
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me..." Is 61:1-2
John 21
1 Cor 13
"Create in me a clean heart, oh God, and renew a right spirit within me..."
and on and on..
Why is a Christian relationship so important to you?
Because we are spirit as well as flesh, and I choose to walk through life most closely
with those who see, and care about the most significant part of who I am, and who they are.
Where did you grow up? Where have you traveled? What are some of your favorite places to visit?
Where have I been? Let's see... well,
I grew up in Norman, Oklahoma. I learned to ride (horses) at Tim Holt's ranch, just east of town. I attended the University of Oklahoma and got my BA. Several years later, I went back to school and took courses in Education, etc. so I could get a teaching certificate. I've been a teacher, worked for Health and Human Services, drilled oil wells in Ohio and built custom furniture.
I was a communications center specialist with the US Army and spent 13 months in Korea, where I gained admiration for an ancient culture, and acquired a taste for Southeast Asian
food. I've hitch hiked from Pennsylvania to California.
I've travelled as far South as San Carlos, Mexico.
I crewed on a 45 foot ketch, and sailed through the Bermuda Triangle, from Ft. Lauderdale to Hamilton Bermuda. I've snorkelled in the Bahamas, surfed (not very elegantly) at Waikiki, sailed in the Virgin Islands, got drunk on the island of Tortola and got a jeep stuck in the marshes behind Cane Garden Bay. (I no longer drink).
I've travelled around Scotland and England, and made my pilgrimage to Canterbury.
These things were not listed in cronological order, at all.
I would really like to go to Athens.
What are some of your personal and spiritual goals?
1.I want to continue to develop the gifts God has given me and seek His will for my life.
2.I would like to share the journey with a mate, if that is compatable with #1.
