I have been enjoying the increasing numbers of programs on tv that depict Godly things and Biblical Issues and history and archaology. Although all they present is not reliable, still some things are and as a group they become reminders and to the novice or outsider looking in they may actually trigger something or open the door to a brand new trail.
But on nearly every show something absolutely absurd takes place
They usually have one or more expert in some related field who will spout off...and in such a holier than thou way for the opposition. One instance was the burning bush...another was the parting of the Red Sea...another the virgin birth and many more. The program itself would discuss the burning bush, for example, and look at it from different perspectives. Then the spouter would point out how it was absolutely impossible for that to happen and thus this 'miracle' would be a fable and the invisible implication would be that the Bible contained fairy tales if not outright fabrications.
When Johnny Carson was on he would occasionally do a groaner. I am convinced he did some of those on purpose because he would come back so quickly with the line "If you buy the premise you buy the bit".
So the absurd part that I am noticing is that if someone wants to test these ideas and be considering the validity of the miracles he should at least be consistent. I mean, if you are going to believe or assume, even hypothetically, that God created a smidgen of a smidgen of anything then it is no problem to extend that to everything.
Man does not and has not ever created anything that I can think of....and trust me, I have tried.
I have invented a few things and coined a few words on occasion and will probably do more, but all that amounts to is re juggling something that is already in existence. Since Adam was tasked to name the animals you know he had to have been given a language to do so and that language had to have contained all the phonetics to accomplish the job. Manufacturing a car or anything at all is at best the rearranging of atoms and molecules in to a chosen form.
You might ask if 'designing' of goods isn't creating. Not really. God had to have created circles, ellipses, lines and points and all of the other elements in order to fashion that first atom on up to the universe. So everything using any of that is, again, a combination of reshaping what has already been.
So what about philosophies and concepts and so forth. I'd certainly say that it would be harder for me to make my case here, but I would still conclude as above that they are a reshaping and repackaging of what was already in existence. The two biggies would be the concepts of good and evil or God and satan. These were here before man came along and each of them have plenty of derivatives that extend from them. Mix some of those together and you have, once more, more repackaging.
Even something like time proves this again. We can't create it. We can use it, transfer it, borrow it, loan it, waste it, etc. but we can't create it. Other dimensions is a topic coming to the front. Guess what...? Christ showed us that with His death, burial, and resurection and that does not mean that we won't find out about even more later.
So what is the point...? I have no idea.....*S*
Yes I do....It is that the entity of 'creation' is so magnificent that we can't comprehend the depths of it much less adequately give God the credit He deserves. For someone to say that God can't change water into wine after contemplating the fact that they exist is well....just absurd. If you buy the premise...you buy the bits.

I have reasons to think not, but most do. Again, I am interested in knowing as opposed to thinking.

Let Me Tell You A Story
There was a time when I was first learning some truths and my life was changing because of it. I was so enthusiastic about that that I was doing it all so to speak 24/7. I was talking to strangers on the street and old friends and relatives. And a funny thing happened on the way to the farm.
I was making people uncomfortable and defensive and angry in some cases. I'm not sure if I connected with any of them.
So, I retreated some what.
It wasn't because I was doubtful about my new truths. It was because I was puzzled. After all, why wouldn't someone want to be a part of this same knowledge that was for their immediate AND their eternal good.
Somehow I recalled a phrase by Will Rogers. He said "Lord, forgive us for what we do in the name of good" or something similar. I thought about that for some time and some things started becoming apparent.
For one thing people's ideas of 'good' are certainly different.
Being in their face with your ideas is equivalent to saying that they don't know how to be or apply that 'good' to themselves or for themselves.
Later, I would come to understand that only a few are going to find their way to eternal life. This means that most are going to miss it.
The job then at hand is to see to it that the 'most' as well as the 'few' are given their chance. You'll then be in a position to feel sad or disappointed or even puzzled about the 'most', but encouraged by the 'few'. That is just the way it is going to be.
But here is what I found as most important...
To give the 'most' their chance you have to communicate....to connect. Sometimes the Word, even if it is the KJV, is a turn off....a real turn off. I can't count the number of times that, in days gone by, that I would be changing radio or tv stations and come across a preacher or gospel music and I couldn't get to the next station fast enough.
This isn't because the Word does not have its power.
It is because the 'most' have been given every barrier that they need or would want to place as protection or diversion. What one might say to a body of believers is very different than what one would say to someone on the outside looking in or someone on the outside looking any way but in.
If you sincerely want to 'give the most their chance' we have to deal with the barriers and diversions and not be their stumbling block ourselves. The Word can be like radiation to a cancer patient...with proper administration it is a cure, without it it can be toxic. It's power can't be measured.
